My OH has just come up with the hair brained scheme of taking our camper van to Venice over Feb half term next year for the Festival of Masks.
Has anyone done the route? France or Germany?
Have any advice?
Recommend any sites / stop overs?
Have any idea how long it really takes?
Should I cave in, or should I stick to my guns and say it it too far for a week (9 days)
Thanks in advance.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We have driven to Lake Garda twice which is then a a couple of hours train journey to Venice. Going down we did two stop overs - according to the AA it is 12 hours driving without stopping. Coming back we had one stop over. We went for 15 nights and it is a long way - not just in time but fuel too. Not sure about 9 days - depends whether you could get cheap flights and then perhaps stay in a Canvas Mobile home on one of their Venice sites (if sites are open then....another problem) or a cheap B&B/hotel...
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
