Planning ahead to next year already as I have to get my work holiday dates in before end of this month!!!
We think we'll be heading to Vendee area again and know roughly what the weather is like mid to late July, but can anyone tell me what it's like mid to late August?
Will it be hotter or similar?
Thinking it may be quieter for sure which is positive, also may be able to use c chqs etc so cheaper as well!!
Thanks

we always go to France the last two weeks of August and have always had great weather. Two years ago it was 42c for our first 4 days and even the last week when we were in the Loire it was scorching (the 42 was was way too hot for us!). We've had great weather in Brittany at the very end of August too. The sites start to empty out the last week too which we dont mind. We're off to the vendee this August and am praying for good weather.

I go every year to Saint Gilles Croix de vie. In late August you might get the odd breezier day and you will prob get 1 dull or drizlly day out of 2 weeks. If you're on the coast the rain moves inland! Most days are blazing sunshine, but not always toasting on the beach weather if slightly breezy
It will be gorgeous, enjoy

You tend to get the more settled weather on a line across France-- SOUTH of Bordeaux. Don'e know why but over many years this is the general pattern that I've found.

we always take a stroll through st gilles a couple of times when in challans - there are a couple of nice shoe shops in st gilles, so it keeps the OH happy and the dog loves the attention from the passers by!!!
as for the weather, out of the last five years you can prob count the FULL days lost to bad weather in august on two hands - and we are there from late july to early sept, normally 5 weeks - so that will give you some idea of what you could hope to expect 'normally'

Stayed in Jard sur mer last year august last 2 weeks was not impressed with the weather a couple of hot days a few overcast days and a couple of rainy and stormy days and nights very similar to an English summer. i think we were unlucky as most say it is usually very hot but our friends packed up 2 days early and this year we are heading further south to try and guarantee better weather
