While staying at La Croix Du Vieux Pont we are planning a day trip to Paris. I know that they operate a coach trip to Paris, However I think the times of the service will be to restrictive for what we want to see and do.
Our plan is to drive to a station in zone 5 or 6 of the Paris transport network and buy their equivilent of the 1 day travel cards.
Can anyone recommend a good station to use with good parking? (Please don't say CDG Airport as the parking charges there are astronomical).
------------- When you wake up in the morning to the sounds and sights of the campsite, ask yourself one question.....who's nicked my tent?????

Soissons is proably the nearest large station to the site but likely outside zones 5&6. Once you get to Paris you can buy books of 10 tickets called Carnets which are handy for families. For mainline ticket prices and timetables have a look here http://www.sncf.co.uk/
Could you update us on this Haggistent as am planning french camping 2012 and any information would be just grand. I am planning staying at the La Croix du Vieux Pont due to the proximity of Disneyland and Asterix Parcs, i have not considered driving to either parc as yet but due to bus available at campsite for Disneyland.
Guess theres more to think about!
------------- weekend camping in Scotland anyone?

It may take more time than you think using the train - so make sure you get timings before booking. I think the problem is that from most stations you have to go into Paris and then come out again on the line to Disney. Some of the 'local' trains are very infrequent - although the inner city trains run much more regularly.
We have just got back from LCDVP, and went into Paris on our middle saturday. We drove into zone 1 (St Germaine district I think it was) following the sat nav (took just over 1 hour). It wasnt too bad, although some of the roads around the car park were closed off so it took about 10 minutes to find it. The friends we were with had found the car park doing a google search- Rue de Clignancourt. Anyway, it was a 24hr small indoor car park, about 5 minutes walk from the Simplon metro station on line 4. It was 20 euro for the day. We did have a bit of a Ferris Buellers day off moment when they told us we had to leave the keys though (we made sure we emptied all valuables out of the car, just in case). We then bought day tickets for the metro/buses, which for a family of 4 cost 19 euros (couldnt buy these at simplon, had to walk an extra couple of minutes to porte de clignancourt station). We chose this option as we had spoken to a family who went into paris using the site tour bus. We were told that the site regularly over books the coach, and some members of the family we spoke to actually stood all the way into paris, but still had to pay the full amount. Anyway, for 40 euro (plus a little bit of diesel getting in and out of paris) it was less than the cost of the site trip, and meant we werent restricted on departure times.
Which ever option you choose, have a great time.

Also, on the subject of driving to disney or asterix. We did asterix this year. It was a breeze driving there from the site. Really straight forward. If you plan to do disney, again I would recommend driving. We didnt do disney (have done euro disney twice and been to disneyland in florida, and the girls said they didnt want to do do eurodisney). Our friends went, and said it was really straight forward. The trouble with the site coach is that it leaves disney quite early, so you miss the night time parades and fireworks (our friends actually only got back to the site around 1 in the morning as they stayed until the very end).
Regards
Mark

Really? That's what the reception at Le Croix told us to do (we didn't go in the end). They said the parking wasn't very expensive - some special 'Start' carpark or something?
They suggested the airport because they said the train ticket would be much cheaper than going to Soissons. I got a quote for the ticket from Soissons and it worked out at almost 100 euros for a family of 4 (the coach from the site is half that) - not sure how much the ticket would have been from CDG.

If you stay at the campsite in the Bois du Boulogne, you can get a bus directly from outside the site to the closest Metro - the best way of seeing Paris with no probs!
