Thanks Madasaman we tried the recycling centre but they won't oblige, they said they have to be taken away for testing.

We haven't really got time now to go hunting on ebay / carbooty so will just have to swap half full for full cylinder. I'm happy enough that a full one will last the whole holiday based on what David Klyne said.

Mmmm ah well, suppose they didn't think that you were going to hand that bottle in for a replacement and that would go away to a filling point who would check it over before refilling. Guess you gotta go the exchange route this year, and look for a spare bottle before next year.
