Hi

We are meantime in sunny France but thinking ahead to possibly sunny Spain early in 2012 - maybe around Alicante in May.

I have no idea what the terrain is like in that area but Mrs Oxter much prefers flat or flattish routes.(and I do as well if truth be told) Canals tow paths - former railway lines - and coastal promenades spring to mind as favourites.

Anyone care to make a recommendation?

Thank you

On your way down through Spain the Salou/Cambrils area has a cyle path all the way between the two, running along the beachfront area.

Camping La Manga has some good cycling , you can go for miles along the coast which is mostly flat
Its possible to cycle all the way to San Xavier .

Another good site is Camping Monmar at Moncofa where there are special tarmaced cycle paths through the Orange groves
and its possible to cycle to Castellon and back

A very pleasant cycle path set way apart from the traffic along the waterfront in Cartagena, which carries on around the dockyards and through town. Absolute bliss on a warm evening. Nice benches to stop and watch the sea from too.

Well, what a great response. Val, Paul,Neil/Lena, Nick - thank you very much for your suggestions.  If we decide to give Spain a go next year we will have a load of possible places to try out and doing the homework on the above will pass a cold winter's evening in the "planning season"

As always we are grateful for the help of our fellow UKCS'ers and very happy to lean on their experience of places we haven't yet been.

Thankfully

The Oxters

Greetings,

Bonterra Park at Benicassim ticks all your boxes,

There is a cycle trail out of the back of the site that takes you up to the next town along the coast (approx 3miles) on an old railway line and the site is 300mts from the prom that stretches all the way to Castellon de la Plana 10kms away.

Thanks Emmitdb also noted. It's the fountain of youth I am after really and a long cool drink there would be very welcome. I can always get some "knowledge" on this website! :O)
