I stayed at Martin Mill on the 8th Sept prior to the 08.00 sailing to Dunkerque, good site with plenty of pitches for caravans and tents. Access through barrier is now by code and not card so no deposit required. There is a late arrival area before the barrier but this is not a massive area. It does have hook ups though. There was a pub just along the road though it is now a private house. There is a pub in Martin with a restaurant which is in walking distance though next time I will take the car sharing the driving with the wife. I drive there she drives back, fair or what?

Word of caution on Hawthorn Farm, we stayed there 1 night in May in a tent for an early sailing. We arrived late and used the late arrivals field. There is a train line right next to it and they run late and when they pass, it's like they're in the damn tent with you. The last train was about 1am and the alarm was set for 4.30am!
Perhaps not so bad in a caravan, but the tenters will be going frantic for sleep, we certainly were!!

Ditto, vote for Black Horse Farm. We had a last minute change of plan to stay there, glad we did. Super facilities, pub across road for last supper if needed. Had evening drink with the local bunnies.
Have also done Hawthorne farm which appeared much busier.

Agree with Black Horse Farm, but bear in mind its a Caravan Club site and you are looking to book over a bank holiday/school holiday week - you will need to get booked in when the bookings go "live" for next year, usually in December otherwise you wont get it.

Woop Woop I won £50 of Halfords vouchers for one of my camp site reviews - make sure you do yours!
Whilst I would concur about Black Horse Farm don't forget the make up of the OP's party which might include some non-members which will boost the price they pay and therefore its likely cheaper to go elsewhere?
A site which we have used a number of times for an overnight stop when catching the ferry at Dover is Little Switzerland, Folkestone.
The site takes both tents and caravans. It does NOT have a late arrivals area but as there is no barrier/gate it is possible to enter/leave the site whenever you wish. We have both arrived late from our journey down from the NW and left very early in morning for the ferry with no problems. It is quite near to the M20.
The site has an onsite bar/cafe, with an outside terrace, with superb views out over the Channel to France. We have always found the staff to be very friendly. The sanitary facilities are a bit dated, however.
We, also, spent a few days there a couple of years ago on our way to the Continent and took the opportunity to visite Dover Castle and other local sites.
I can highly recommend Longfield farm, singledge lane, its a CC CL and only£7.50 a night, you can come and go at any time of the day or night. just pay your money at the bungalow, or put it in an envelope and post in letterbox It is a basic site with lovely views, lawned with water, chem disp etc but no showers. It takes about 15 mins to get down to the docks and we would use this every time if getting an early morning ferry, however, we choose to go on a late ferry then camp for free at dunkirk docks and set off for a full days driving at 6am or so. hope this is helpful. Another vote for Little Switzerland. It is a C&CC site. We arrived late after missing our ferry two years ago and the warden came out of his static/home to greet us. When we explained he said of course he could squeeze us in and stayed with us to see that we were set up and had everything we needed. He even recommended an Indian Restaurant and phoned to see if they were still open. We had just come from Blackhorse Farm as we were Caravan Club members at the time and thought to try there first but were turned away for not having a booking despite the site being only half full. We have used Little Switzerland since and would use it again. Its very handy for the port and has everything you need for an overnight

Never visited Little Switzerland, but I should point out to the OP (whose party is to include two caravans and two tents) that the nearby Camping and Caravanning Club Site doesn't take caravans, possibly because of narrow/awkward access.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
