Hi, can anyone tell me if the "bird field" is the main camping/tent field? I know they each have names rather than numbers. We only want to go if we are in the main tent field. We booked with the C&CC who have found out we're in the bird field and 500m from the toilet block (which is quite a long way for a 5yr old boy who likes to leave things to the last minute...).

as far as I noticed last year all the main camping pitches were named after birds. Really there are only two parts, the static/pre errected part and separated by a track the camping part. I am surprised you are that far away from the toilet as there are 3 blocks to use, one of which is in the middle of the field!
We were in a C and CC plot ourselves and quite close to all 3 blocks.
We went in a static last year and noticed that there were a few touring pitches in the furthest field on the left beyond the main static field. We walked round the camping field several times so am also concerned if we are 500m from the toilet block cos as you say it's in the middle of the field and I don't remember the field being that big.
We booked it as the C&CC website incorrectly showed they had pitches left but it was actually only on request so I don't think we have one of the pitches normally allocated to them.
I am not sure where you noticed as we were in the main tent field and I did not see anywhere else for them. Maybe it just seemed far away due to you being in the static area but I would not like to say for certain. the block that we used was quite new so maybe you have been given out of date info as it really was in the middle of the camping field

cant help with the location but why not email the site and ask to be nearer the toilet block. When we tent camped I wouldnt have liked to have been 500m from loo block with kids.
When are you at La G? We are there from the 21st August for 12 nights.

It's all got rather confusing with the booking. I'd emailed the site directly but by the time they'd replied we'd decided we'd rather book the whole trip with C&CC (who incorrectly seemed to have some of their pitches available). When La G emailed back they said they had only one pitch left on the main camping field, but by this point our booking was going through. I only later found out the C&CC had used their pitch allocation so ours was a "request" one which may or may not have been the last one on the main field. I told C&CC that we only wanted it if on the main field, La G has only just got back to them and said we are on the "bird field" but we can't work out which it is. One of the reasons for taking our tt not going in a static is to be more sociable and that's unlikely to happen when one of just a couple of pitches inbetween statics. There is certainly no possibility a pitch on the camping field closer to the toilet blocks for the dates we've booked. We're very unsure about being so far from the toilet blocks.
Savanne1 we're booked for 6-17th August though may decide to change our booking. Think we have 2 days before it costs us an amendment fee.
we've booked through Select Sites and I've asked to NOT be near the statics as I'd read about the few pitches next to them. They put the request to La G who said they cant guarantee anything! When I rang La G to ask about pitch location all he told me was that Select Sites had good pitches in a good location so its fingers crossed here.

We booked throught C&CC and IU was told that we they didn'y know specific pitches, but from what I have read on here the touring area is the top right hand side field (when the D21 road is running vertical on the screen). when we booked at the end end of October, the C&CC told me that they had an allocation of 10 piches, but they could request more if any were available. We couldn't ask for specific pitches, but could request certain details, ie near the loos etc.
BTW, we're there from 2nd to 17th August, may see some of you there. I'll be the big child with the green remote controlled car whizzing about LOL
Cheers
Jeff

Hi Greenhill and Jeff,
I can't help you with pitches but we will be staying there the same time as you in our Trigano Odyssee. We arrive on July28th for 2.5 weeks. I haven't a clue which field we are going on. We booked direct with the site but haven't stayed there before.
Marie.

Afraid so, Marie you might be the only Odyssee there. We've changed our minds so many times I've lost count. I've not been to Brittany since I was a child and Hubbie's never been there. This year we're fortune to have a winter sun holiday so decided we're happier to take the risk of poorer weather in the summer but didn't want to drive to Benodet from Calais. The ferry costs jacked the price up so we decided to go back to La Garangeoire. In the week it took to get a reply on the pitch info we'd changed our minds and decided we could afford the western ferry crossings.
That's a rather long winded way of saying thanks for all the info. Have a great time at La G but unfortunately we won't be joining you. Marie it's a really great site and it's only my hunger to visit different places that means we're not going. Enjoy! Ruth.
