As we won't be arriving in France until around 8pm when we go on our summer hols I need to find somewhere where we can bed down for a few hours near Rouen - Can anyone recommend an Aire or Services that are safe to stop with a Caravan in that area? Abbeville is a bit too early into the journey for us as it would leave a 10 hour journey to our site in the dordogne

If you are using N154 sth of Rouen there is a large aire sth of Evreux, plenty of room but only toilets & no fuel pumps. Theres also an aire on the A28 as you approach Rouen but I'd hesitate to use it tho, crowded with trucks & dirty. A better bet might be to go off at A28 j9 into Neufchatel-en-Bray. Follow signs to campsite & pull onto the LeClercs supermarket car park. Plenty of room & you won't be disturbed. The campsite does stay open late but past 10pm might be pushing it.
I always think pulling off into a town & parking on a supermkt carpark is safer than a motorway aire & theres never any problem with this in France.
I use camping Eure at Pont de l'arche. Its just South of Rouen and its a municipal site next to the river. Have a look on google. Some good pictures of the small town and the site. Takes about two and a half hours from Calais.
