Does anyone know,what the motorways are like in Spain on a night time.We are thinking of driving down from santander during the night.

The Motorway networks in Spain are very good and you should have no problem driving through the night .
If your familiar with the route your taking even better and if not a good Sat Nav will keep you right and a map for backup

The Spanish motorways are very quiet even at their busiest. Only place you will normally get a build up of heavy traffic is going through the likes of Madrid.

You will see a lot of dutch driving at night, am sure they would recommend it if there were any on this forum.

Driving at night through Spain is no problem, plenty of restaurants and garages open at night every 5-10kms.

If you do need fuel at night a lot of garages on the Nationals and the motorways want you to pay up front or leave your passport while you fuel up.

And don't be tempted to buy the Service Station pre-packed sandwiches in Spain - they are amongst the most awful things I've eaten anywhere!
