Having a bit of a dilema, got the ferries booked for 17/6 - 1/7 but have yet to agree which site, feels like I'm going round in circles so any comments/advice on sites/area in this area would be gratefully received.
At the moment i have sort of narrowed it down to Les Druides, De La Baie and Le Grande Metairie. We have a family sized tent approx 8m x 5m so need a reasonable sized pitch and will happily pay more for a larger pitch if necessary. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children , aged 2 (just) and 3 when travelling so dont need loads of extra things on a site although pool/beach near is good.
I have read various comments on here although some are from a few years ago so I am aware that sites change. Although both children have been camping since babies and we often manage 4 weeks away each year this is our 1st adventure abroad with our tent so we want to try to get it right if you know what I mean.
Thanks in advance for any useful comments/advice

Hi, with very young children i would probably avoid La Grande Metarie, it is lovely, but more geared for slightly older children.
I would highly recommend La Plage, La Baie, Kervillor or in Carnac itself Les Menhirs.
All of these sites are small child friendly
We've stayed at Le Moustoir a couple of times as it's a Camping Cheques site. It's a bit out of the town and we were very disappointed with the state of the pitch at the end of last June. Many of the touring pitches have now been turned over to statics. It has a two good pools one indoors and one out.The toilet/shower facilities are excellent though.
Whilst in Carnac we thought we'd have a look at Les Druids for future stays in Carnac. This is an Acsi site and we thought it was really nice. It's only five minutes walk from the beach and handy for the shops and also very clean and tidy. We shall be staying there this year for a few days on our way back to Roscoff. The Acsi price of 16 Euros (not sure about any extra for kids) applies up until 5th July so must be worth looking at.
------------- Mother Nature always wins in the end.
With a young family you may like this site. It is not your big commercial. A wee bit off the beach, in a lovely quiet bit of countryside, and end June/July it will be quiet so you would get a good choice of pitch. It's essentially a "French" site rather than multinational, but the natives are very friendly.
Really liked the look of Camping Les Druids at Carnac when we had a good walk around it. Its a small/medium site with a pool, spacious pitches ,well laid out, and walkable to the town centre. Lots of young families around too
Next time we're back in the area we'll be heading to Les Druids.

I would recommend Camping de la Plage - we went there 2 years ago when my son was 3 1/2 - it was ideal. Right next to the beach with traffic free paths for walking or cycling. Our tent is 720cm x 360 cm and we fitted easily on our pitch along with car, trailer and table and still had room for a game of swingball! The pitches there do vary in size but the staff were really helpful giving pitch dimensions etc. The little tourist train stops outside once a week for a cheesy tourist trip round Carnac (not sure if that would be the case in June?). The only downsides that I can think of is that the playground is on the small side (although my son didn't seem to notice) - their sister site is only a few minutes walk away with a much bigger playground so we went there sometimes. Also when we went the pool closed between 12ish and 2ish due to a planning constraint but we didn't find that a problem. The slides at the pool are great for little ones as they stop in a footbath rather than drop into a pool - much safer for non-swimmers and the shallow pool kept him entertained for hours. We really enjoyed it there - hope you enjoy your trip wherever you choose.

Thanks everyone for your advice on these sites, it always helps give a clearer idea what they are like if people have stayed/looked round them.
I am now gonig to get my ACSI card sorted and then book either Les Druids or Kervillor as both these sites accept the card and the saving appear to be great especially as we are going for 2 weeks. Cant wait to go now, shame its still so many weeks away.
It's good that both those sites offer 'free' children under 6 - making it a very cheap option for a young family who can use an ACSI Card. I think, if I were making the choice, I'd go for the site with the indoor pool - just in case of inclement weather! It does mean that on a rainy day you can keep the little ones occupied in the pool for some of the day and in June you just never know what sort of weather you might get!
We stayed at Kerrivlor for 1 night at the start of June last year. The site was absolutely dead. So much so we moved the next day to Camping de la Plage where we had a great week.
I'm still debating between la plage and kervilor but we're going 20/7 til 3/8 so presumably it'll be busier then? Our tent is large at 7.5m x 5m so was thinking pitches mat be bigger at kervilor. Decisions, decisions!
Have you decided yet missbou?

When we visited Druids we were actually camping at Kervillor just up the coast at La Trinite sur Mer. Both are fine sites. We were there mid July just before the schools broke up. It was just over half full with a big influx due the following week. The pitches were bigger at Kervillor and theres a good balance of mobiles and campiing pitches. I always reckon too many units spoils the camping feel.
Druids was lovely though. Just a really nice informal feel to the place, but well looked after too. I reckon it was about two thirds full at the time. Smaller than Kervillor but well placed for Carnac beaches and a walk to the restaurants in the old town centre.
Whichever you chose chaps im sure it will be a great holiday.

Not really, There was a bigger play area at Kervillor and the pool area was being rebuilt just after we left (July 09). Druids is closer to nice beaches.
The kids seemed well happy on both sites.
Its gonna be great......weve great memories taking our three daughters when they were young in the mid 90''s. Happy days.
