Which web sites do you use to find campsites in France. UK campsite is good but does not cover every site. Are there better sites than Camping France and the large chain sites

Camping France - which has all 10,500 sites in France (apart from a few British owned ones) is really the only one which has everything.
However, if you're going outside peak season you can have a look at the ACSI and Camping Cheques websites - (www.campingcard.co.uk) and www.campingcheque.co.uk where you'll find details of sites where you can obtain discounted prices by using either ACSI or Camping Cheques. They have the advantage of a lot of easy to find sites, where you can look at comparisons quite easily and even if you're not going outside peak season it's an easy way of looking at sites.
It also depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for a site in a particular location then the town's or area tourist information site can be useful or google the area and then 'search nearby' for 'camping'.

We've found having the ACSI book these last couple of years has made us more relaxed about finding a site, as each site has info, directions, and opening dates. We have turned up at many a site and found it closed, then had to bash on to the next site when we'd rather be sitting with a G&T!
