A long shot I know, but I wondered if anyone had used a satellite dish at Chateau Galinee? If so, how did you get on?

Thanks CC

Not sure where the site is but in most places in France you should get a reasonable signal with a 60cms dish and providing the dish has a clear view of the sky you should not have a problem. Why do you imagine you will have problems? It could obviously depend on what systems are used.

Thanks David, only wondering about line of sight really and obstacles such as trees.  Google earth isn't that clear and there is no streetview, though there don't seem to be any tall buildings which is good.  I will be using a 60cm dish.

60cm Dish will be fine at that Northern France location, don't worry to much about line of sight, just take a long length of satellite cable, my Dish has been upto 25m away from the pitch, to avoid tree cover blocking line of sight.

Thanks Francais, I know you're a dab hand at this sort of thing. I've got 20m of cable so hopefully that will do the trick.

Not been to that specific site, but have certainly got a very strong signal with just a Sky MiniDish (at that time fixed at ground level on a home made timber stand! ) somewhere south of Saint Lo in Normandy which isn't a million miles away. Even with a 50cm oval dish we pulled in all channels on our Sky HD box.. slightly naughty taking it away on holiday I know, but keeps the family entertained.

logic500 I don't think it's naughty to take your Sky HD box on holiday. We always take ours - Sky are being paid for the service and it is your choice to take it with you on holiday to entertain the family. We pay pay 'top dollar' for Sky so leaving it at home would be 'very naughty'.

That's it logic & bowler, I have just informed Sky, and next time to take your Sky+ box's out of the country, your viewing cards will be turned off, the £50 re-enablement charge will be added to your Sky bill upon your return.

Can't help with satellite info but the site is in a countryside setting, no tall buildings but there are plenty of trees, some of them are quite tall around the boundary.

Good beach a couple of miles away - Pen Guen on the St.Cast road and another in the town itself.
