We are currently on this site and I just wanted to give people the heads up that there are a lot of road works near the campsite so you need to be careful with access. In addition to the normal camping signs there are some extra large yellow signes which help a bit. Haven't been oiut and about yet so can't say if there are any easier routes.

I've looked at this site many a time and the autoroute and junction layouts looks a bit complex. Maybe a set of instructions, minus the road works, might be good idea in your report.
We are heading off on our 6 week tour on Sunday 1st July and we were considering dropping in here for a few days around Bastille day (14th July). Logic being: 1)the campsites' location should make access to any city celebrations easy. and 2)the location of Metz give us flexibility in where to go next eg Germany, French Alps, Paris, Dordogne direction. We're a family of Mum, Dad, girl 12 and boy 13. Wife likes clean toilets/showers. How would you rate the condition and friendliness of the site itself.
Hope you have a positively eventful tour!
Thanks Joe
P.S Any indication/info on when the roadworks are planned to finish.

Not sure my powers of observation are up to providing a fool proof route to the campsite, the whole area is a bit of a mess!!!

Metz is a typical municipal. All pitches are on grass and when wet it can be a bit claggy. Most are on a slight slope. The toilet/shower block is pretty old but keep clean. All pedestal toilets but without seats and no toilet paper provided. Would suggest to arrive by early afternoon as by late afternoon the site was pretty full. Some reception staff speak English but then some don't appear to.
Just to correct some earlier information, we discovered a second toilet block which actually has seated loos!
BTW, the City of Metz is just a short walk from the site. Have a look at the superb covered market. The site provide you with a map. There is free WiFi here but we have found we need our signal booster to get a reasonable strength signal.

Any of you around that area, keep a look out for a young tall British man, on a 'vintage looking' bicycle - it's my best friend's son, who is cycling (eventually) to Portugal via a lot of places in France and Spain. I think tonight he may be in Nancy (or not have left Metz yet as it was a few days since we heard from him)!
He has scraped knees from being knocked off his bike, and at the beginning of the week needed cheering up. A friendly wave from a British car might just cheer him up a bit - or if you meet him on a site, a few friendly words!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
