Hi Campers, We are finally going to Spain (Bay of Rosas) in July/Aug. Have looked at different routes to drive with caravan in tow both Toll and non Toll, anyone got any routes or tips and tricks Thanks

If you want shere speed ... tolls, where you have to ... if time is noobject, and you want a pleasanter saunter down, then avoid them like the plague!

If you don't mind paying the tolls and you want to keep moving to get from A to B then it's no contest.

The toll roads will give you hours of easy motoring usually on better surfaces than N roads and far less traffic.

Put your route in mappy.com and flick between toll and non toll and it will give you the price of the tolls, also the estimated journey time of both. You then can roughly work out which suits you best, speed or saunter......

I don't think mappy or any other software fully incldes all those b****y traffic lights where you sit there waiting for nobody to go the other way.

Toll unless you have time to waste

You don't say how long you are going for. This will have some bearing on what you are trying to find out.

Just to the Spanish border will be around 800 miles so that will be 2 or 3 days journey both there and back. So if you only have 2 weeks holiday then I would most certainly use autoroutes for speed and ease to get there as quickly as possible.

Le Harve, Rouen, Dreux, Chartres, to Orleans (A10) then at Vierzon onto A20 which is free for most of its length. A62, A61 and A9 to the border.
