Has anyone stayed here or in the St gervais area, if so could is it ok (2 adults & 1 x 3 yr old), it will be the first time driving abroad, so any advice would be appreciated...
It's a good choice of site in a great area. The fact that there are only three reviews on this forum, compared with the dozens of members who head for Annecy is revealing of something, but there are loads of other very complimentary reviews elsewhere if you do a search.
I guess you know that mountain weather is unpredictable, but when the sun comes out the views from the camp site are stunning. The scenery in the area is incomparable in France, but your 3 year old might cramp your style for all the mountain walking opportunities. Have a great time.
When are you planning on going? Les Domes de Miage is an ACSI site, at 16 euros per night for a pitch for two adults, car and caravan, awning, and electricity - and that's up to the 6th July and again from 27th August. That's a saving of over 6 euros per night on their 'normal' tariff during those dates.
Thanks for the replies, plan was to set off friday 17th august at around 1800 (from newcastle), then either driving all the way with a few breaks or stopping somewhere overnight around half way, its 950 mile so might need a red bull drip in my arm, then leaving on tuesday 28th, does diesel cost more in france, and whats the cheapest way across the channel, ferry or tunnel (car with trailer), the answers are probably all here in this section somewhere, ill have a look...
Are there any other sites anyone could recommend, with something for a 3 yr old to do, like a pool... Thought with France might have chance of some decent weather and someone at work who has camped all over france said Les Domes de Miage was the best...

Diesel is cheaper in France - prices we paid ranged from €1.24 to €1.30 per litre last month (at 80p to the euro that is round the £1 per litre mark) at supermarkets, but it was a bit more at some petrol stations and on motorways of course.
DFDS ferries (Dover - Dunkirk/Calais) are generally the cheapest unless you have Tesco vouchers and then I believe you can use those towards the cost of the Tunnel. Sometimes good prices can be had through the two clubs, if you are a member.
I would say you definitely need at least one overnight stop, if not two, to safely drive those distances, even though driving in France is much less stressful than in Britain. I'm sure there'll be someone out there who has done the journey though, and will be able to give more specific advice.
Oh my there is no way you could drive safely all that way in one go. Calais to your site is 8 hours which would need an overnight stop never mind from Newcastle. Hope you have a fab time
My sons (young and fit, generally) drive a long way in one hit. They share the driving usually, and set off from home and with no overnight stops do Lacanau, or snowboarding in the Alps! They're usually in a party and one drives, while the others sleep and then they swap roles. We oldies prefer our comfort and stopover sites en-route, but sometimes we forget what it was like to be young!

Towing a trailer I'd say 10 hours from Calais to St Gervais if you are using motorways as far as possible - but that will cost you about 70 euros each way in tolls - and fuel is often 20 c per litre dearer on the motorways. Time v. money isn't it.
We stayed on this site last year in Aug, had some rain but also some hot sunny days. The play area is nice for young ones and showers etc are nice and clean. We caught the bus into St Gervais and to the station for the Mont Blanc mountain train. From the site on the main road going to St Gervais there is a public swimming pool which is very nice with a small cafe. It's next to a crazy golf and tennis complex. Definitely a site we would go back to again.
