Would anyone please be able to advise me if the best route to Port Grimaud from the A8/ E80 would be along the D558 or the D25 to Ste Maxime and back along the coast.I will be towing a caravan in mid August.
Thanks

I hated the D558 - it's the only road where I've been car sick whilst towing the caravan. It's so winding and the camber seemed wrong! We only ever went that way once, and therafter used the D25. But I'd agree the D559 coast road will be awful at that time of year!

I forgot he said August, so can I revise my opinion? I'd do a 6 a.m start from an overnight near Aix en Provence, using A52 via Aubagne, A50 via Toulon (through the city by 7 a.m), and carry on eastwards on A570 and finally N98/D98 (not the D 559 coast road via Cavalaire) . Breakfast on arrival.
Junction 36 on A8 and then D25 to Ste Maxime is the route I have always taken. Once through Ste Maxime the route is pretty straight forward with wonderful views of the Med as you drive along. The route is always busy. Which campsite are you heading for?
Some folk don't like the D558 because it's all twisty/turny, I've always gone d25 and then sat in the traffic, put some cool tunes on and took in the first views of the sparkling med - it's the only traffic jam I've ever appreciated!

Is there an overnight in this area that you would recommend?.

Wedding Guest. I suggest you hunt from www.campingfrance.com Call up the map of the Bouches du Rhone departement and work from that. I can see several farm sites and other tiny sites which are very unlikely to have barriers and from which you could leave early in the morning.
