Well we are off on our hols next week, 2 weeks at Domaine de La Rive Biscarosse, the 1 week in loire.
when we are at the La Rive, my son has asked if we could drive down to spain for the day. i have had a quick look, to get to the border is about 2 hours.
Are there any nice Spanish towns/areas within about a 3 hr drive of Biscarosse.
Thanks..

I would say San Sebastian/Donostia (Spanish and Basque names) is probably the nearest. We didn't spend time there but it seemed pleasant enough and quite picturesque when we went through. Otherwise it would be Pamplona, but not sure how long it would take you. The one thing that would put me off going though is travelling on the N10 - IMHO the most boring road I've been on in France and with ongoing roadworks (no real traffic queues though, and I expect the narrow lanes would be less stressful if we hadn't been towing). For car/caravans and HGVs the speed limit was 80kph. At one time I led a line of about 12 trucks all trundling along the inside lane!
Thank you for youer replies, will check it out now.

Hi very envious! we have spent many great holidays at La Rive on and off over the past 10 years the most recent being last year. Sadly not going to France this year and am having withdrawal symptoms as I read posts, hope you have a fab time. Can't help with Spain questions as in all the years we have been never done that trip though has been on our to do list. A must is the Dune Du Plya which is fantastic.
thank you dart18. Dune Du Plya looks very nice, it will also be good training for my triathlon mad sons to run up. A big part of our holiday is set around them training in the lakes and sea, they train 7 days a week. There are some fantastic cycle roads around Alicouts, mile upon mile of quiet, safe and well surfaced roads.Hopefully Bicarosse will have some good hills and cycle routes for them as well.
Me. I'm just technical support
