If you check websites of P&O & DFDS/Dover & Eurotunnel their prices have suddenly rocketed. You won't get a car only crossing for less than well over £100 return. I'm guessing it is due to the BF non sailing. So anybody wanting to book early for next summer might be better holding off until BF is sailing again.

It didn't affect us this time but it would have done in August as we tend to use BF. I remember reading of possible strikes before summer (might have been the staff at ports then) but they managed to delay action and avoid chaos. Thanks for your comment.
Madasaman - Hope your brother can sort something out now, and everyone else that has been affected.
He decided to cancel the planned trip. They gave money back and offered him a free sailing from Dover with P&O, but with the mileage up to Dover and back and from Dover to Northern Spain and back plus the current weather he decided to forego this trip.
