The best in the area is Chateau du Gandspette, at Eperlecques which is between Dunkerque and St Omer.  It has good pitches, excellent sanitary blocks, and a restaurant with a good choice of meals (not gourmet, but tasty!).  It takes Camping Cheques in low season (Up until 1st July in 2012) and then after 1st September.  That means a pitch for two adults, car and caravan, awning, and electricity will cost just £13.95 per night.  See www.campingcheques.co.uk.  And if you're unsure then do ask again. Chateau du Gandspette is also near to a supermarket for basics, and a fuel station for reasonably cheap fuel, and there's easy enough acces to Ypres and the other WW1 sites, as well as some WW2 sites around Eperlecques and St Omer (Blockhaus, La Cupole, and others).

It's easy to get to from Dunkerque port - straight out of the port, under the A16 motorway on to the D300, and head south until you get to the roundabout signposted Eperlecques in one direction and Watten in the other.  Head for Eperlecques and the campsite is about 500 metres on your right (sharpish turn so slow down when you see a lot of trees!).

It's one of our favourite sites for a last night, but lots of people spend their holiday there too.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what the date is for the start of the Centenary Celebrations! My apologies!
