The beach is the one directly across the road bridge from Camping International at Calonge (just outside Playa d'Aro) and is one of a number of very similar lovely coves along that stretch. We've stayed at the campsite several times, and also (a couple of years ago) during the winter at the Hotel Silken Parc St George at Playa d'Aro - and in the winter the beaches are just as lovely!

I actually meant that I thought there was still so much for us to see in France that we haven't seen yet, but your explanation has convinced us to go to Spain!
Will try to book Aquarius soon then I can look into how to get there and back. Planning is just as exciting as being there!
I'd find most of the Costa Brava a bit too touristy in high season ....
Have you thought about the north west coast of Spain ... we've returned five times ... so much to offer ... great beaches and coves, the Picos de Europa ... fabulous towns and villages, caves, prehistory, cable cars, rivers, Guggenheim museum, fantatsic walks ... the lot!
Much less touristy ... I couldn't recommend it enough ... we're back there again this year!
If you are using the Bilbao or Sanatnder ferries, it does seem a wasted opportunity not to holiday on their doorstep ...
Hi there, on a bit of a tangent here but we have done the south of France and northern Spain a few times. As above very nice areas but we have switched to Bavaria,Dolomites and Tuscany in the past few years, have a look at some of these areas if you are still struggling to decide. Always a bit less he tic, clean mountain air and the most spectular scenery

We went to France last year to Camping le Neptune in Agde. We had a great time but this year we are pushing on to Spain and going to Camping Kims in Llafranc (next door to Callella de Palafrugell).
This is mainly because I spent many a happy childhood holiday in Llafranc and CDP. It really is stunningly beautiful and unspoiled and from what I hear on here it is supposed to be cheaper to shop and eat out in Spain than in France. Winner all round!
Our lads very much like Val's but you don't have to go all the way to Spain - the western part of Languedoc-Rousillon (south of Argeles to the Spanish border) has lots of coves and is a nice area to eat and drink in!

I think, if I had children, I would do the Costa Brava just because of the beautiful coves and lovely little 'villages'. My sons (who didn't really like beaches) used to like the rocky shores there - where the rocks were rounded, and like beached wales in some places. I think Spain is also marginally cheaper for things like meals out, and when we were last there we had some very nice reasonably priced meals.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
