Well I finally feel that I`m getting somewhere, managed to get site booked for ten days, did`nt think that I would as cc could`nt request anymore pitches and after looking at reviews of this site had really got my heart set on it but rang the site and they had two places left !
So now just need to book site in ithe vendee! Have got to say this is a really useful website and highly addictive ! Just got to tear myself away and do the really exciting things in life, like the ironing!! Roll on France

I know some people disagree but IMO SP is difficult to beat
Location is superb - right next to river with no through traffic on access road = super quiet. Sunset reflections of the cliffs on the water are jawdropping
sand beach, pebble beach, really super clean/clear water [take snorkel and mask]
nice bar [ ask for litre of red wine and two glasses maybe]
more than adequate shop/snak/restaurant
dead easy access to l'Eclerc in Sarlat without going through any traffic [up to the castle, turn right, second left [1st = dead end], follow road around sport centre [watching low speed limit] right at the roundabout and you are there.
Making a similar trip to yours this year have booked the SP and then heading to the vendee to Pin Parasol. Been at the Pin for 3 years running. For us it is hard to beat so looking forward to see if the SP can match it or even better it
Yes isecond la Guyonniere, been there 3 yrs on the trot so time for a change. We are having 2 weeks at Soleil Plage then 2 weeks at la Brasillia down south. Can't wait!

Are you going in high season? If so, How did you manage to get a pitch at le Brasilia?! They are usually booked up, from one year to the next!
Hi there, sorry only just read this reply. Yep, going in high season I was very lucky, I had to change my holiday by a week to get in there but was very lucky to get through first thing on the day their bookings went on sale, I do know there will be one pitch available for one week the last week in August as I had booked it and paid a deposit for my brother and he now has to change his plans!
I had heard how difficult it was to get in, and was told that they were fully booked during many of the weeks, I guess I struck lucky. I hope we are impressed now!

All sites I've strongly considered. LPP this year and thinking SP for next year. La Brasillia is top of my list if and when we ever head that far south. Will be interested to see how people get on. Just ordered a photo book for last years photos and stared longingly at our Le Letty photos - our best ever family holiday.
------------- From tents to trailer tents to a tin tent to an air tent to trailer tent and back to tin tent!
I wll let you know what we think of it after our stay. It looks lovely and the reviews are good, so fingers crossed! We will either love or hate it as totally different to La Guyonniere!
Went last year for first time stayed 8 nights, loved it, booked whilst there for this year and staying 19 nights this year (might hate it after so long) Theres a few of us on this forums thats there at same time, if your there same time come and say Hiya to us, we are there with friends staying on the riverside touring area. Where are you pitched as the two touring areas are far away, one is near pool & bar area and one closer to the river? Make sure you take your dingyhys etc for the river. We think its the best location with it being so close to the river and having a beach. They are building a new pool too if you look on their FB page pictures are on, it will be completed for April this year and will be covered with a spa too.
We had a brilliant holiday there last year and weve stayed on two other sites in the Dordogne which werent a patch on SP because of the riverside location.
Cheryl, who do you have your travel and breakdown insurance with? I seem to recall you saying your caravan was a similar length to ours, I know some wont cover if the vp caravan is over 7m which ours is. Are you able to help?

I have my breakdown insurance with CSMA Brittania rescue, theres no max length with them, I worked for the civil service for 20 years so I am a member of the CSMA but Ithink you can go direct through Brittania rescue. We pay around £80 for a years breakdown cover and that covers us for UK and abroad. Travel insurance I buy an annual policy through a company online called Atlas Direct, I always opt for the policy with NIL excess as some have high excess charges pperson, I paid last year £68 for all 4 of us and that covers us for all our holidays up to a max stay of 28 days and £3000 cancellation/curtailment. I thought they were decent quotes considering we usually go on at least 2 main holidays a year? Your right to think about the length for breakdown as so many people get caught out!! Some will tell you the total figure of the shipping length which includes both car and caravan, our caravan is 7.99 metres so its a long one. The travel insurance can be as basic or comprehensive as you want it to be you can tailor it when you do the quote online. You print it all off at home and all the details are on the docs for claiming. Iv used Atlas direct for years and so far never claimed so cant comment on them for that side of it.
We are going to L`Estanquet in La Palmyre for a week, to please the sea beach lovers of the family- mainly husband! Then will be at Soleil from the 18th August for ten days having spoken to the site there were only two pitches left, which seem to be a couple of rows back from the river so hopefully ok.
Having spent many a happy hour trawling through reviews and helpful tips I`m hoping that it will all work out well.
sounds like your in a similar area to where we always go, its much nicer that part of the touring area, the one closer to the bar is noisier and not as nice, the pitches are cheaper there though but we prefer the riverside area of the site. We are there from 21/7 and leave on 9th August.
We love it, its our fave site so far that weve stayed on in France and very popular with the Brits and Dutch. Theres plenty to do for the kids too. We booked our pitch whilst we were there last July, she said thats what most people do and they always give priority to their regular customers so they will let you rebook your pitch for the following year if you want to return. They then contact you by email in Dec to see if you still want it then you complete the booking form and pay your deposit by January. Thats why its so hard to get on in peak times as most of the pitches are rebooked by people who go back year after year! we spoke to some who have been going for 12 years on the trot and their kids all meet up now they are teenagers. Even though its a busy site we found it to have a lovely atmosphere. On our first evening there we were amazed at the display of hot air balloons landing on the site in the fields, everyone went over to look at them and they allowed the kids to sit in the basket for photos, it was really nice to see them landing. Theres also a travelling circus that comes onto the site for 1night only for 6euros pc, our girls enjoyed it, they also have pony rides once a wk for 5 euros. Some evenings are themed and you can prebook, they do food and entertainment. We ate in the restaurant one night and it was excellent, 3 courses for 15 euros adults and 8 per child, the pizzas are also excellent. Its the usual cheesy kids discos/karoke but our kids enjoy that! We cant wait to go back, really loved it last year but only stayed for 8 nights having stayed on another for 9 before so thats why we rebooked for this year, plus, theres 5 families all going together with us so we wanted pitches together.
Im sure you will enjoy it and hope the weathers as good for you as it has been for us the last 2 yrs!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
