Similar but different ...
One of the things that causes us difficulties is items on French menus - the contents (vegetables &c or the simpler cuts of meat) are easily looked up in a dictionary but there are lots of technical terms which mean nothing to us. Is there an easy but comprehensive source for these? The Berlitz phrase book is quite good but far from complete ....

You can also say:
une chope - a large beer
un demi - a normal sized draught beer
un bock - a smaller measure still, usually served in a wine glass
un panaché - a shandy
un Monaco - a draught beer with pomegranate syrop in it
Not sure if these are just regional (Savoyard) slang
une mominette - half measure of Ricard with an ice cube in a glass
une tomate - a "mominette" with pomegranate syrop (absolutely delicious)
