My wife and I have been thinking about taking our two kids (will be 6 & 7 when we go) to Disneyland Paris. We have an older 14ft tourer. We are looking at going in about 12 months from now, in the May half term.
What we would like from all you lovely people is suggestions, we don't want to be on top of Paris to be honest and anything up to an hour away would be fine. Our main things we look for in a site is cleanliness, especially in the loo's, we will be spending a lot of the time away from the site so swimming pools and the like really is of little concern.
Also, how many days does it take to see everything you would want at Disneyland? Personally im thinking 4 days but I have nothing to base this on.
Fuel wise, im thinking of allowing a scary £300 as my wifes Toyota Estima is a bit juicy before you attach a ton onto the back of it and we will be coming from Lincolnshire. What sort of cost will the Autoroutes be?
For the ferry im thinking £200 return but can anyone tell me where I can find special offers or is there some P&O type club I can join to get a deal.
Basically, we want to make this a holiday for the kids to remember and dont want to continually be saying no to everything because its too much, so anywhere we can save money is another smile for my kids.
Thanks everybody for any help you can give us.
Wayne
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Wayne, August last year we stayed at www.beau-village.com.,cost of approx €26 per night (family of five incl EHU).Very clean and tidy site, its about 40 mins drive to Euro disney. It is also only 10 mins walk to train station, and 20 mins train journey to centre of Paris.
If you use Tesco, save the clubcard points and use them for Eurotunnel, we got three times the value when we booked. ps; the earlier you book, the cheaper it is. Last year we used £65 worth of clubcard tokens, this year the wife decides to use clubcard vouchers for something else, then could'nt make up her mind where she wanted to go on holiday, eventually the tunnel cost me £282.
Oh such married bliss !!!
If you watch out for special offers at the time of the Caravan Shows at the NEC in October and February, DFDS often offer very cheap crossings. £58.00 return for car and caravan, and up to five people, in low season, and £78.00 in high season. The code you need to get these cheap crossings is always shared on caravanning forums such as this one - and lots of us take advantage and book early. Another advantage is that you can book, and then amend any of the details free of charge if you have to, right up until the 30th June.
Wayne we are going in August and have just bought Annual Disney land Paris tickets
Would be worth you looking at if you are going for 4 days,we bought the passes from a website called ce multi advantages which is a French only website so you need to use google translate
They always have offers and when we bought ours it's was buy and adult fantasy pass for 125euro get a child under 12 for 35 euro so for 3 off use we paid £220 for annual passes

When we went, we stayed at La Croix de Vieux Pont, which is about 3.5 hours towing time from Calais and 1 hour from ED (look under my reviews for link to site). In May, you can use camping cheques which will mean a nightly cost of about £23 with the kids. However, this site does have great pools, lakes, restaurants and even a beach!
Disney is teeth grittingly expensive no matter how you do it - we paid about £200 for 4 for ONE day!! They just don't do any significant discounts either - we tried everywhere.
We went on a Tuesday out of school holidays and just about did everything in one day, but only because our longest qeuing time was 25 minutes. Go at a busier time and you can easily queue twice as long as that.
Personally, we preferred Parc Asterix - half the price of Disney and more exciting rides for adults and a dolphin show and other live shows (but i realise kids love the Disney characters).

Thanks for that AK1972. I have had a look at that website through Google translate and although a bit hard to decipher I think I've worked it out. Am I correct in thinking that I can buy 2 x adult annual passes at 105euros each and then get my 2 kids passes for 35euros each for a total price of 280 euros.
Only reason I ask is looking at the official Disney site they want slightly over 600euros for 2 adult and 2 child 4 day passes.
My wife is saying this seems too good to be true, is it an easy transaction?
Many thanks everyone for your great and helpful comments so far.
We bought annual fantasy passes in August from CE we got temporary tickets that we exchanged for the full annual pass in the park. You do have to pay a joining fee of 20 euros to CE but ours have been fine. Just be aware of blockout days that you can't use the pass on and u may also want to return to Disney to get your monies worth!!!! I believe u have 6 months in which to exchange the tickets for full passes at the park. Ours came with free child pass for under 7s

Hi Wayne sorry should have said you have to pay 20 euro to join the Ce advantages site
It was an easy transaction I ordered last Tuesday and the temporary cards arrived Saturday
It's worth downloading google chrome as it can translate whole web pages which makes it a lot easier
We we originally looked the 105 euro on but went for the next one up which is 125 euro because you get free parking at Disney and also you get the extra magic hours which mean you can get into the park at 8am instead of 10am to beat the big qs

Have a look at some of the disney forums - we got loads of useful info from them, especially this one. We went last May half term, got cheap ferry crossings (this year we've found it's worth joining the Caravan Club as we've more than recouped the cost in ferry crossing savings), bought our park tickets through FNAC and saved a bucketload, and stayed at Les Etangs Fleuris campsite (which I think may only have cost us 100 Euros in total).
Will try to post more tomorrow when I'm wider awake and can remember more :-)
Hello Wayne
I can't comment on Disney as I have never been but as regards a campsite Des 4 Ventsis ideal; we stayed here recently in April, it is approx. 15 mins from Disney, the pitches are huge, friendly owners and staff and the toilet blocks are modern and clean. The site office also sells Disney tickets.
In respect of visiting Paris itself you can drive to Tournan (about 10 mins) and park free of charge at or near the station and catch the RER into the centre of Paris (about 40 mins). A ticket for the RER return and unlimited use of metro and buses in Paris costs 15.20 euros for a day.
There are other interesting places nearby to visit, e.g. Fontenbleu and Provins.
I did my first visit in April this year. We cheated staying in a static etangs de flueris but they have nice pitches there. It's 20-25 mins drive from Disney. We too bought the fantasy annual passes which were excellent value. You get free parking (normally €15 a day) also the passes give you 10% off food, drink and shopping. Most importantly you also get access to Disneyland park 2 hrs early at 8am. The first hour 8-9 is bliss with no queues. We loved it so much we returned for 2 days/1 nt last weekend. Save Tesco clubcard vouchers for free eurotunnel crossing. Take your own food and drinks into the park as it's very expensive. There is an excellent Auchan at Val d Europe near Disney.

We did the trip last year and used tesco clubcard vouchers for the channel tunnel and stayed at the Jabline campsite south east of paris, about 30 minutes from Disney Land.Easy peasy
Honestly? We wouldn't go in peak time school holidays. We've been to DLP five times now and each time we went in January. It was cold and we had snow but we bought the kids ski suits and wrapped up well and had an amazing time. We got fantastic deals on hotel/ticket/travel each time and always paid much much less than full price, one year we got free dining as well. All the rides were open and we didn't queue for anything, all the shows were still on and frankly, it was a joy. The kids loved it all! We spent from 3-5 days there, 5 days was too much and we ended up going into Paris for a day. I'd say you need two days in Disney and one in Studios. If it's busy though (ie in school holidays) you'd need longer to get on all the rides if you are queueing for ages.
As your kids are 6 and 7, they go free between Jan and March on a package anyway.
If you have no choice but to go in school hols, then you just have to suck it up ! and plan your day accordingly ;)
We have only ever been in school hols and wkends,we have never queued for more than 50 mins .
My son would take an ipod or PSP to keep him amused whilst in queue.
But TBH some of the theming of the queuing areas is enough, and you are constantly moving most of the time
We take snacks and drinks to the park ( very expensive onsite !) after having a good breakfast,so do not need to stop and have a meal at a restaurant ( until the evening, and sometimes we go to Val D'europe as much cheaper )
As for sites we love La Croix Du Vieux Pont, which is 1 hours drive from Disney
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
