In 1966 my OH's dad drove the family to Greece for their summer holiday, camping en route, and they reached Athens by the evening of the fifth day - even though cars, and roads, were a lot worse in those days!
We've driven to Greece avoiding Serbia (Germany, Czech Rep., Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria) but took 10 weeks to do it. Portugal would be a lot easier! I agree with KellyW, if the OP is serious, let him have a go.
------------- Il vaut mieux vivre ses reves que rever sa vie
Driven Med to Calais a few times in one go, very dull and tiring but shared the driving and had a comfy bed at relatives near Dover to look forward to. A friend, HGV driver, whose wife doesn't drive did St Tropez to Leicester in one go so I think people who are used to it may cope better. However, if I was towing a caravan I would take the kids and make overnight stops, all part of the adventure. My kids loved it exploring new places, the adults just enjoyed chilling and a glass of wine. So my advice (for what it's worth) is go where you want but relax, chill and make the journey an adventure and part of the holiday.
There are lots of possibilities here ... I don't think the Greece option was totally mad ... it's been done by others ... You can ferry from Brindisi return for about £550 ... cheaper than ferry to Bilbao/Santander.
If you're used to long drives ... and you have meal breaks/coffee breaks et al ... you can safely drive long hauls (I've done London Granada in one go ... some years ago admitedly ... but regularly do long hauls, especially at start of hols) ...
I too drive to first campsite, then wife/kids fly out to nearest airport ... we do the same, in reverse, for return ... they fly back, I drive. Means they get full value timewise, and I, being more flexible, can add the extra time on.
So ... no, I don't think it's a mad idea .. so long as you are able to 'body watch' yourself and ensure that you never drive under fatigued conditions, and are prepared to stop and rest properly, if you are tired.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
1500 at an average of 50mph (generous average) 30hours non stop your having a laugh!
as for 2100 to greece your looking at at least 4 days solid driving some holiday that would be, youd be much better off flying and doing a cheapy all inclusive or renting a villa, would probably be little in it cost wise.
Thirty two hours.
Chewing gum for the last twelve hours ... sore jaw for a week!
Slept for sixteen hours on arrival!
I once worked for five days and four nights without sleep ... Not driving!)
Severe hallucinations towards the end.
Back in the 60s I had friends who drove to SE Europe evry year. The journey there took one week, the journey back one week leaving a week for local touring. To them the journey was an equal part of the holiday stopping off in natural areas or great cities as they liked.
So, if I were driving to Greece now, I'd make sure I had at least a month and take the journey very easy.

Entirely depends on how much time you have ... two weeks, no way.
But, suppose you had six?
