Hi please help - we are looking for a great campsite for a family by a lake in France that will allow us to take our own small boat and sail it- we have licenses to sail if needed. You wouldn't believe how tricky this is. I have 2 small boys (ages 5 and 4) so would need a small playground as well.

How far do you want to drive? If 500odd miles from Calais is ok then there are some lakes in SW France. Hourtin port for example, there is a nearby campsite & there is boat launching facility. campsite hourtin port

Surely any sizeable lake in France will have camp sites on the shore. Some of the ones we know are  Lac St Croix in Provence, Lac des Settons in the Morvan (Burgundy) and several of the lakes in the Auvergne. There were sailing opportunities at all these as well as camp sites, but there are many others. Choose your lake !

Thanks John - they were fully booked - they were my number 1 site before I wrote the post above - we have a mirror as trying to teach the kids to sail and decided to go to a different lake this Summer. I must have rang 15 sites - all full!

We have finally booked at the campsite next door to le bleu- which didn't come up with any searches for having your own boat, able to keep boat on the campsite - Nubliere - they have the neighbouring beach but only 3 star - looks ok though - I think we can launch there or a short distance away having talked to the reception. But thanks for the help - I would definitely have booked at camping lac bleu if we'd have got our act together quicker. Thanks for the help though

at ChrisBR

How was your stay at Nubliere?
I ask as I am unable to book at Du Lak Bleu due to it being full at the time we would like to holiday.
I own a Hobie 16 and would like to tow it from the UK to Lake Annecy for use on our vacation. Having a tough time finding somewhere around Annecy for this purpose.

Hopefully you will pick this up, but it has been a while since your last post.

Thanks
SRG

Nubliere was fabulous and we sailed our mirror on the lake with no problems- it was an amazing setting -n the boys loved the nature reserve and walks. We loved picnicking on the banks of the lake in the evening. We are now looking for a great lake/ campsite in Northern France. Has anyone stayed at Jabliene outside Paris???
