That sounds high but then Brittany Ferries have no competition on that crossing we have just come back from France and always use that crossing because we only live 1.30mins away depends where you live and what part of France your going to a lot of people say DFDS ferries are cheaper but they are over Dover way.

Fair enough but for £62 you could have crossed from Dover return with DFDS. If the shorter drive / longer crossing is worth the difference to you that's fine. But £850 buys a lot in France.

If you're time poor, getting south and west as fast as possible is key, no matter how many cheap overnights in France you can get.

Is it me, or are the longer crossings more expensive this year? We want to go down the west coast, but ST Malo, Roscoff & Caen are just too pricey!

It can work out cheaper to book one of their gite / cottage holidays, which include one of their return crossings....than the crossing on its own.

Not sure if you would get caught out by their T&Cs if you didn't use the accommodation at all....can't imagine you would as there's nothing extra in it for them.

Brittany Ferries Club Voyage, we joined this year and basically saved our joining fee and years membership with the discount we got on our trip just gone from Poole to Cherbourg with a motorhome. Going again in 4 weeks time, so well worth it for us.

http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/club-voyage-travel-club/france

Members of the club have a code they can give out to non members that saves them 10% if you dont want to actually join yourself.

We paid £770 for this crossing, car and caravan, one night crossing, 4 berth cabin each time. Booked it as soon as bookings opened last year and through c&cc so think that got us a discount. Really looking forward to it, we have kids 5 and 9 will be a real adventure for them and part of the holiday. As we live in Somerset made the most sense to us.

Not done the Roscoff crossing but have done ST Malo daytime return crossing and hadn't booked a cabin - daytime so didn't think about it - kids at time were 16 months; 4; 4 and 7. All good kids, travel well without moaning or issue.
Wished we had booked a day cabin just to have a base! I would always book a cabin even during the day just to get away from noise, crowds etc etc so it may be worth a thought!

Enjoy!

Ruth

Yeah, sounds about right. We're £700 Portsmouth to Caen with trailer anda 4 berth for outbound journey. The overnight journey suits my hubby best as he does all the driving.
