I will make sure I have the corkscrew handy for me though lol! we were going to jib out on Paris but Jess is desparate to do it..... loving the list and list ideas - will also add fans for kids to list I think! plus thanks nearly forgot the euros!!!! and the potty - that could've been interesting. Got some new sleeping bags and airbeds for the kids today though - so really getting in the mood now

Not wishing to be rude but why on earth would you go to Paris for the day with two young children from Cherbourg. That's akin to going to London for the day from Devon. You will have at least 6 hours travel. So much to offer in Normandy so why not keep Paris for an altogether separate holiday.

The sugar in coke is high fructose corn syrup ... one of the most dangerous sugars around ... I'd really not recommend that to anyone, let alone children .... lots of info on the web about these 'man made' sugars.

Warbis, thanks for the advice re Paris, it's a fairly uninteresting story, but long and short of it we promised oldest daughter after a bit of a disaster last year so we just gonna have to man up I think lol X
The only upside is that having relatives nearly 3 hours drive on both sides of our family, the kids are used to just ducking off for a long trip in the car. Hopefully we can make it as painless as possible and break it up a bit for them. Did consider an overnight hotel stay but not an option, prices are silly really and don't like leaving our poor tent on its own overnight haha. Kelper, thanks for the info, but I have a 7 and 2 year old who can get hyper on a fruit shoot! Coke not really gonna happen as they both dislike fizzy drinks - though my MIL who works in a hospital says flat cola sometimes used by people feeling really nauseous - who knew??!! learn something new every day eh? Overall kinda have a bit more of a plan and a list now thanks to UKCS members - hoorah - thanks all!!

Summer has arrived in France and it is hot and very humid today,into the 30s next week, which will be worse in Paris, you'll need aircon to make it bearable!
