After camping for 20 years using our own equipment we are renting a canvas tent at Parc Albatros in Italy in August for various reasons.

What do I need to take that will make the tent feel a little more comfortable and 'like my tent'? I'm concerned that I am going to be disappointed....

Also we are not taking the car so what do I do about security and hiding my purse and passports etc. Again for some reason I've never worried about feeling unsafe in my own tent but now I'm worried that it will be so obvious that all our belongings are in the tent! There are safe deposit boxes on the site so I probably need to rent one of these.

I think it is the fear of the unknown and losing my security blanket (ie my tent!!).

Thank you

One thing we would take is some sharp knives as the ones proved are usually so rubbish you can't cut anything including bread. If you can't take one you could always buy one

Table cloth and candles will make it feel more homely your a bit limited with what you can take if not going in your car

i would take bin liners, carrier bags, tongs and your favourite knife. I would also take some picnic cups etc
The canvas tents are well equipped and in a great location on that site, so you will have a great time.

With regard to your passports etc, we took one of these when we went away recently

You can attach it to something immovable in the tent.

In a rent-a-tent the safe above is probably about as safe as you'll get and could be hooked around the tubular metal legs of the bed and then tucked out of the way under the mattress.  Generally, though, you'll find most campsites are safe places to leave most things - though obviously not out on show.  Don't get paranoid - a rent a tent is no more likely to get 'broken into' than your own tent and at least all the equipment will belong to someone else so doesn't need to be worried about!  Enjoy your holiday without fear!

We'll be staying in a 'Rent-a-tent' in Croatia next year, courtesy of Roan holidays, for just £106 for two weeks in May/June - but I doubt I'll spend my time thinking about security.

Thank you for the helpful comments above. I think the security bit is because I am doing something different! I don't normally even think about it but then we normally have a car where I can hide the passports in etc if we were wondering to the pool or beach.

Thanks Warbiss about the location of the canvas tents. I am really looking forward to it as it looks like a great site.
