See, I went to the village primary, and got segregated in assembly......I didn't understand all this 'Power & Glory stuff....which is the Doxology after the Our Father. Of course older and wiser I know this now.

My brother was taught be Jesuits....apparently this was scary.

I have heard many horrible stories about nuns being cruel...so unecessary, and really no wonder why so many of our generation turned their back on catholicism.

I have happy memories of sitting on the priests knee and him telling me stories. I can remember being very confused by the Latin mass, and all that smelly incense.

Being a singer means that I approach this from a different angle, and it has a happy associations.

Yes, I will enjoy the nuns Mike.

PS which parish were you in growing up ?

Ah, we had Jesuits at St Michael's in Leeds.

Generally pretty fair, but if you had to go for "6" ie "Gallagher, get 6 boy" (3 smacks per hand with a ferrula) you knew it

Yes indeed, and my brother went to St Michaels....we used to know it as 'Colditz'. My brother played Clarinet in the school orchestra. I can vaugely remember going to see 'Oliver' there and they used Mount St Mary's girls for the female role.

We gew up in Scholes nr Barwick in Elmete, we had no Catholic church so we went to St Winifreds in Aberford, St Theresa's in Crossgates, St Benedicts, Garforth and on holy days of obligation it would be St Annes Cathedral in the evening. Our parish was St Gregory's but we never went there.

When I came to Calverley we had the same problem as it's very much a C of E stronghold. We went to church in Burley in Wharfdale for a number of years until we were encouraged to go to First Martyrs, Heaton....something of a trek but 11 members of Chordiality attend mass there, and quite a few from Catholic Players, so we migrated 2 years ago.

Bit of a rum do that we still have no Bishop. Arthur was summonsed by Rome, and had a to go........just makes me wonder who will do the confirnations in the diocese.

I always imagined that you only move a Bishop if there is a replacement in mind. Me thinks they did this move in a hurry...mmmmmmm (not the most popular person with his fellow priests).

Bayeux - same 'Eglise', and the same water wheel.

Mucker

A spin off from that other post.

To save space we decided we wouldn't take the laptop, just the 7" tablet, and our phones.

I had a routine worked out with the tablet but in the end, just used the phone for pics and posts for the "blog" (totally half-arsed compared to others' noble efforts), thus cutting out the step of bluetoothing pics over to the tablet.

I'm old school. I use a DSLR for main pics, or now my phone for snaps. My compact camera never comes out of the cupboard now.

This is the routine I used, on android:

*Installed the Photobucket app on my phone.

*Took the pic(s).

*Used the site's wi-fi to upload them to PB via the app.

*Opened UKCS in a browser.

*Selected a pic in the PB app.

*Tapped View Links, then tapped Direct.

*The IMG code is copied to the clipboard.

*Went back to the UKCS page.

*In the post, clicked the IMG button and held down to paste the link.

*Posted the Reply.

It seems a lot of steps, but actually it's just tapping a few screens, and in practice it's quicker than it looks.

Not sure about Blackberrys, but Muckerette will totally be able to use her iPad for pics, then use some sort of apple friendly pic hosting site and post to UKCS. All the while whilst you're sitting in the bar, or outside in the fine evening sunshine, enjoying a drink, and discussing the the day. Fabulous

Erm, thanks Mike, but I fear you may have wasted your precious time on this!

First off, you state you are "Old school", and then ramble on about DSLR, like I'd understand what the heck you are on about!
No, Mike.... I'm Old school!!!

Another "problem" I have is that doing anything tinternetty on my Blackberry, other than the odd Email, totally and utterly pi55e5 me off. It's dead slow, and the screen is far too small, and/or you are forever scrolling up and across the page.

My plan is.... and it's a basic one, but at least it's within my capabilities, is to do as I do here at home..... take pics with Blackberry, connect via lead to laptop, cut from 'phone, paste into laptop, upload (or is it download!) to my picassa account, and voila..... post on here, with the comfort of my laptop.
It's what I know, and what I'm comfortable with.

I hate Muckerettes ipad (and anyone else's for that matter!!) with a passion. Touch screen and me just don't get on. The only things more annoying are self serve express checkouts!!!

The sitting outside the site bar on a fine sunny evening is also part of the plan.... I can do that standing on my head..... and most probably will, if I start swigging this 'ere red wine everyone raves about!!!

As for room in the car, for laptops and the like, I'm pleased to say I am blessed in that department! :-)

We took out 2 seats on day one, still leaving us with a roomy 5 seater and a decent boot. For France, we will be taking out a further 3 seats, (We normally just fold them down, and they are bulky, so will give us a lot more cargo space than we are used to).
Without any encroachment whatsoever to the cockpit, including our little picnic table between the seats , we'll have a generous 3,423L of load space..... if that ain't enough, we're not bloody going!! LOL!

So, laptop it will be! Old school..... and mixed comp at that! LOL!

Sincere apologies for your wasted time and effort, but my gratitude also! I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... you, sir, are an absolute gent.
Next time, just check I actually want your help first, will yer? Feeling guilty now!!

No worries mate. DSLR = digital single lense reflex camera, or, in my case...

You've got a working routine, and the luxury of space to take your preferred kit, so job's a good 'un, and I look forward to reports from the front, from...

"Mucker, our man in the Dordogne"

PS I'm not sure how Picassa works, but I hit a snag with my free Photobucket. It has a bandwidth limit on the free version, and number of views count (about 6500 on the two Beynac posts). So whilst I thought about other options, I had to pay to free up more bandwidth and re-enable views. Even so, some have disappeared and just show "moved" placeholders, even though I haven't moved anything.

Just thought I'd mention it as we all like pics so a report, from site, after, or both, will be popular. There's me and Geoff, for a start
