Our European family adventure Take II with our trailer tent commences at 7pm tomorrow and I can't wait. We have an overnight sailing from Newhaven to Dieppe (complete with a cabin so the boys can get some sleep) arriving at 04:00hrs (French time), so we have hours of clear open roads to cruise along at 90kmh and bit up the miles...!!
We aim to be at our first stop, Camping du Lac close to Foix for dinner time.
Friday we pass through the picturesque Pyrenees skirting Andorra. We chose this route to avoid the likely delays near to Perpignan and Barcelona. This way we join the E15 past Barca, before ending up at Camping Montroig close to Miami Platja for 14 blissful days.

600 miles seems a very long way to go on your first day and I would have thought in 8 hours it's impossible. But then we rarely do more than 300 miles a day! However, I wish you luck, but have a Plan B just in case!
Thanks Val, we have 14 hours to reach the 1st destination 04:00 to 18:00. Should we get stuck, then yes there is a Plan B.
The Air con has just been recharged and the electric cool box will be in the boot. Fingers crossed the heat is bearable.
Our car will be filled with electronic gadgets, Laptop, DVD's, DS, and anything else that we have accumulated over the years so the boys will be entertained. A rest break has been factored in every 2 hrs, so all being well I can enjoy a cold beer in the evening!
Last year the journey was made all in 1 day to Spain, overnight from 1700 - 0600 hrs with Dad driving all night whilst everyone slept.

I hope they meant evening dinner time ie they had 15 hours to make the trip
This summer is hot both in Spain and France, today in the Limousin, where we live, will be 38C in the afternoon, cooling down to below 30C over the weekend. Spain will remain hot, well over 30C but maybe with a sea breeze..
Just returned from a fantastic 18 day trip away. We did not experience any problems with traffic all the way to Spain, our route took in Rouen, Orleans, Limoges, Toulouse, Pyrenees and Barcelona. It took around 12 hrs, including stops of 30 mins every 2 hrs.
The return was completed in one hit - I drove through the night while the wife and children slept soundly. It took 15 hrs from close to Valencia. The only hold up was on our return at Passport Control, we very nearly missed our Ferry!
Note to self- next time avoid the route from Spain to Clermont-Ferrand - too many hills for towing!
P.S. It was very hot when we hit Montauban around 38.c the Air Con could not cope!
