Great detective work. Val de Cantobre it is. We had a fabulous time. It's very remote which took a while to get used to but once in the swing of things we were really happy. The on site shop had as much as you'd ever really need, so that actually saved us endless trip to the supermarket. Bike rides were fab from the campsite as was river swimming under the bridge near Cantobre itself. Canoeing in the Tarn was wonderful. Kids loved it. The plot was 55.

Something very different for us next year...Vendee. Already booked. RCN site again for the third year in a row. The Vendee isn't typical of the scenery we like, but we have try it. Will keep things fresh either way.
Less driving too. Caen to Val De Cantobre was 10 1/2 hours (540 miles). Doable and no regrets, but quite hard work.

Those are all great photos, can you identify the places please? We had that area on our list of possibles but as it was 13 degrees at Millau when we were there in June! this year we just drove south. Maybe next year.
Thanks for the pictures. We are thinking of going there next year, the first time since 2006, so it would be good if you can do a review - cleanliness of the facilities, temperature of the water in the showers and pool etc.

Some of the places in the photographs are La Couvertoirade (the two showing a long view of an old village with a round tower, and the one with the Creperie to the foreground), the canoeing shot I would think is on the Tarn, the other canoes and bridge shot is St Chely du Tarn, and the other is Cantobre itself. Interestingly when we first went it was in ruins, and if I can find it I will post a shot taken in 1981 when only one of the houses had been restored - and even that was only half-finished. It quite fooled me to see just how complete the restoration is now. In 2007 when we were last there it wasn't nearly as complete. The long view I would guess it taken of the Gorges du Tarn from the Point Sublime - but again could be anywhere along the top of the Tarn Gorge. We have similar shots taken from a walk to L'Hermitage, from above Le Rozier.
CliffyStephens - go outside the school holidays and you'll avoid kids, and can use Camping Cheques at Val de Cantobre.
We are not too far from there right now - arrived Saturday afternoon. Yes its a wonderful area its our 3rd year in this area and its always superb.
