We have been to Pin Parasol for the last couple of years and have really enjoyed it, thought we need a change for next year though. Been looking at Le Letty. The prices are higher than Pin parasol, just wondered if it is worth the extra. Or are there any similar sites that anyone would recommend?
Also what is the best ferry route value for money Think it was coming out at 650 ish to Roscoff? We used the tunnel last year which is cheaper but a long time sat in the car driving.
Thanks
Richard

Le Letty is a great site and I would go back like a shot if there wasn't so much more World to see. It remains my favourite site in France. Our resident Du Letty expert Tim will surely add his view.
The best ferry depends on how far you have to travel in the UK and whether you are towing. I've driven there from Roscoff, St. Malo and Caen.
Portsmouth - Caen is the cheapest ferry in general but there are special offers on other routes from time to time - I've seen a Condor service from Portsmouth to Cherbourg which was very cheap if you can cross on a Sunday.
Thanks for the replies and offer. Will look into the Caen crossing and the condor ferries. Travelling from Birmingham so anywhere on the south coast of the uk, not towing anything.
We were going to book pitches inside the campsite, Got a vango 700 tent, are the pitches generally reasonable sized ? Did wonder how secluded they will be with 6 to 8 per bay
Is the weather generally ok in Brittany( august middle 2 weeks)? Only been furthe south before.
Cheers

Ive done Le-Letty the last two years in a row and I have to say I love it. You will be hard pushed to find a camp site offering as much as they do, as the swimming pools are great and of course your right on the beach, if you have kids, it’s a win win all round!
Im not sure what ferry port you would use, but I always do Plymouth to Roscoff, the only down side for me is, I arrive at Roscoff late at night, so I stay at Saint pol de Leon at a campsite called de Trologot for one night as its 15 mins drive from Roscoff port, the move down to Le-Letty the next day.
Yes, you might pay a little more money for the camp site, but im sure you will see it’s worth it!
I have been quoted 63 euros per night. Think its about 15% more than Pin Parasol. I suppose that's the price to be next to the beach with a bigger pool complex.
2 kids, 10 and 8 so sounds ideal for them.
Pool does look great, Beach next to the site is a bonus.
Think we will book it and worry about how to get there nearer to Christmas.
Thinking about Tunnel, stop at hotel 3/4 way to site and easy drive next day. Unless I can find a cheapish ferry later.
Is there any position that is better for the tent ?
Thanks for the info everyone.
Richard

If you want a site with beach access and you're prepared to overnight after the tunnel, I'd recommend you have a look at Camping Interlude on the Ile de Re. Even the biggest pitches (which will take a big Vango with ease) were only 49 euro a night height of season this year.
There are two big supermarkets 10 mins drive away and a free bus from the campsite into the local town - good (if a bit pricey) market and a Carrefour local. Site has a pretty decent restaurant that does a top notch moules frites and plenty of other things - also a take away that does pizza's etc.
The island gets more hours sunshine than Brittany and the Vendee.
Tim and Carey will add some good comments I'm sure as they've been lots of times. We booked this in the past as it looked great and had good reviews- we didn't go ahead as the weather was poor and that would be my only reservation.
What is the weather generally like in Brittany near le letty ? We have had great weather in Vendee last 2 years, we are concerned that we will end up with poor weather and cooler nights like we had in Jersey 3 years ago.
We went to Le Letty last year and Le Pin Parasol this year. I'll try and do a comparison as best I can from our experience with 2 primary aged kids.
Weather - better at LPP, 50:50 at letty re highs 20s and lower 20s with more cloud, and perhaps a bit of drizzle or wind.
Pools - kids enjoyed them equally. Letty pool area prettier tho doesn't have the views of LPP. Letty pool not as crowded but don't remember it as warm either. Letty's inside pool is more interesting,
Pitches - LPP are more spacious and private with hedging round 3 sides.
Toilet blocks - LPP wins hands down on this front. At letty you have to take paper from one big roll at the end of the corridor into your cubicle. Hand washing is a cold tap outside. You have to pay for hot showers at letty.
Location - letty wins hands down on this front. We could hear the sea, lying in bed at night. I love the sea, rest of the family not that bothered but meant I could go for a walk on the beach by myself once the kids had gone to bed. Also you can walk through the streets or along the coast to Benodet. The beaches are far prettier in that area than the Vendee in my opinion. Supermarket only a few mins away from letty.
Facilities - playground better at letty as was takeaway (much bigger menu) and much bigger shop, evening venue also good. Presume kids club at LPP is much better run, our kids now won't go to non-UK run clubs in france after going to Letty's (language barrier and v v loose "supervision").
That's all I can think of at the mo.

V difficult to say tbh. The sea lover in me says Letty, the sun lover in me says LPP. Letty is a further drive for us and less likely to be sunny, given the rest of the family don't love the beach and sea like I do then prob LPP (plus much nicer toilet blocks) but it really is 6 of one half a dozen of another. We hope to go back to La Garangeoire next year but likely to head further south the year after, but not sure where we'll go if cant get La G - hubbie v happy to go back to LPP and we will go to coastal sites for weekends away for my sea-fix.
