We have booked Camping Nattersee in Austria for Summer next year.
Problem is I cant decide which is best route to take to book overnight stops.
From previous post it appears some take from Calais the route through Belgium, Luxembourg Germany into Austria.
Some go via Reims France and into Germany and some as Eurocamp tell me go through France and Switzerland?
I know the mileages are roughly the same, can anyone who has bee via these routes help?
I know the advantage of Belgium and Luxembourg would be an advantage on saving on tolls and fuel in Luxembourg, however this would not be reason enough to not take the good toll autoroute in France umless there were other advantages of going via Belgium, or is this a slower route?
We were provisionally looking at booking Chalon and Stuttgart for overnight stops if we went the France route into Germany, what do you think?

If you have plenty of money to spend on tolls to get a smoother road surface then go through France, that would be your only reason. Otherwise take the route through Belg, Lux, Germany.
Always take the Belgium Germany to Austria route. Excellent roads and driving through pretty areas. We would stop 2 or 3 times at sites for 2/3 nights seeing different areas enroute.
I know lots of people prefer the Belgium/Luxembourg route but we much prefer the Calais/Chalon/Metz route into Germany. Last time we stopped at Chalons and Karlsruhe enroute to Austria over the Fern Pass. On that occassion we went to Prutz, Innsbruck is the other way along the Inntel motorrway.
With your outfit I can't see you having any problems with the Fern Pass. This route can be pretty busy at the weekend its more twisty than steep. If you look at my blog here there are some pictures of the Fern Pass and details of the route we took.
