Don't know these sites but would not have thought you would need to book at that time of year. Some sites in Italy do not open until 1st May, have you checked up on these 2?
Have not stayed at either site but, having seen the access for Camping Michaelangelo, I would think again. Whilst it is OK for Motorhomes and trailer tents, I would not like to try with a caravan, and I have been in some tight places. As for April May, You will find no problem just turning up. The main season is August.
Don't know Camping Fusina but we have stayed at Camping Michaelangelo. As Rostrevor says the access is tight but OK. I doubt that it will be as busy at the time you are going so access should not be a problem. Certainly no need to book. This sort of site has a high turnover of campers so provided the get there by mid afternoon you should not have a problem. This site has wonderful views of Florence and access to the main sites are easy. If you intend to spend more than a few days you might find it more peaceful to find a site out of Florence and travel in. There is one at Figline which has a daily bus service to Florence. Personally I prefer Siena which is only 40 odd miles away and we have stayed at Camping Colleverde which is only a short bus ride into Siena. You could go to Florence by train from here. Anymore questions please ask as I am sure someone will be able to answer them for you.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Hi Avril....If I may suggest Camping Serenissima..........great site ..no booking required....all speak excellent English if your Italian is a little basic.....and even more importantly, its only a short bus ride away from Venice - with the bus stopping virtually outside the camp site.
You can also purchase the bus tickets at the site shop......so what more could you ask for. We were going to return to this site ourselves in April, but unfortunately other things have cropped up, so we are going next week to Camping Lebrande on the Isle d'Oleron in Charente, in western France, ...........I'm sure that it won't compare to Venice but hopefully it will make for a pleasant break............Go and enjoy............ it's a fabulous, romantic City with little comparison..........Regards Pete.

We stayed at Camping Michelangelo in Florence last May and enjoyed it very much. The entrance is a bit scary when you firsr see it, and i was worried about getting out, but in the event it was a doddle. The site has stunning views and is within a twenty minute walk of the historic centre, the Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio etc, or there is a good, cheap bus service as well. You buy the tickets from reception. The site has an excellent shop, with very good wine, and is clean and well-kept/run. The electricity is an amazing 2 amps, but we managed ok on this. It will run your fridge and your battery charger, and about one non-mains light. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Graham
