Hi, I've booked LA CROIX DU VIEUX PONT 10 Aug until the 23rd.
Could I please ask for pitch recommendations?
Based on a prior thread, I did request a pitch in the new section - under the tunnel- on the booking form.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and to request the pitch/area.
Could I please kindly canvas views - on pitches/areas.
I have a wife and 4 children - aged 13, 11, 6 and 4.

Close to the river in Le Parc area is often flooded. I have seen tents and caravans in a foot of water. Ask not to be in LE Parc. Other places are all ok. We had a good time there and might go back next year. Beside the false beach looks good for young families. Look at the reviews. I have done a review and others are good also.
Avoid Le Park, we have visited this site many times.A couple of years ago we were put in Le Park and watched a steady stream of vans arrive and leave immediately. We left the next day too.Haven't been back since.There has been a noticeable change in their attitude towards tenders / caravaners . Chalets /mobile homes are their main concern.
Bad news for me .... they only have le Park available for my dates 2 week mid August.
I have booked my ferry, so France is where I'm going ... ideally LA CROIX
What do you reckon - shall I take Le park and just ask to avoid the River area?

On Le Parc up the slope a bit away from the river might be OK. Just keep away from the river. The riverside is lovely if it does not rain heavy and flood.

Le Park isn't as bad as you may think. They have some lovely pitches and some ok pitches. We arrived late and hadn't booked and were put in Le Park, across a small bridge right next to the river. I presume we were on the less popular pitches. No pitch markers, we were put in between trees which defined our pitch. Some a little narrow although plenty room in front. We didn't feel crammed in and as we walked to the bar past the avenues of tents in their formal rows, felt we had a good spot really.
The only thing I would say is if you are across the little bridge beware of the river and your small children. Ours was 6 at the time and was well aware not to go near. Id be a little apprehensive of taking our 15 month old now as there are no fences to stop you falling in.
The Bar, pool are excellent. The beach was great for sandcastles, the water a bit murky but ok.
We had a fantastic time and may return.

If it is wet ,just be careful with the electricity. Two years ago we were in Le Parc,in August. When we arrived it was very wet.There are not many electricity points so they provided 50m extension cables,with a lot of junctions which were wrapped in black bin bags under the shelter of a tree.when new people arrived they would go to the black bag and find a spare socket to plug into,then hopefully wrap it all up in the bin bag again.This is not acceptable for a site that is taking as much money as this one.I am sure if it dry you will be ok .if you have children they will love it here.
