There is a distinct shortage of sites in that area, we have stayed at Zaragoza a couple of times now en route south, its ok for 1 night, we now continue for a couple of hours on the A23 and stay at Camping Altomira, just off the A23 much better site but may be too far from Santander.
Sorry just realised you are going to Villanova so my suggestion would be in the wrong direction!!
