Hi, can you please help with the definition of EL Pitch and SP Pitch, I'm aware that there is a an area sq metre difference. but throughout the last two hours of looking
I've found nothing more. If it means serviced pitch where do I found the literature on equipment needed for instance.
Useful site and forum, how about a glossary to cater for the ever increasing list of the modern trend for using abbreviation without explanation?

At a guess, presumably "Electric Pitch" (just an electric post on the pitch to connect to with a proper caravan Hook-Up lead), and "Service Pitch", the power post, a water supply, grey water drainage, and possibly bigger.
AFAIK there is no standardized definition between sites. You have to look at the site's offering and go from there.
As to kit, it always boils down to power in, fresh water in, and waste water out. Cassette loo waste is usually a chemical disposal point somewhere, often by the site loos.

As Mike says, unfortunately the French aren't 'standardised' nor likely to be - and that's what's so charming. Sites will never be 'regular' and predictable. What you see when you arrive is what you get, whatever it might be called.
In France almost all pitches have electricity, except those in the high mountains intended only for backpackers.
On a French site (any site, pick one from 11,000) you'll need a French adaptor (just in case the connection to the bollard is an old-fashioned type), a Euro Plug for all other electrical connections and something for your water (could be anything from a kettle to fill from the tap, to a couple of aquarolls and connectors if you shower in the van). We just have a 5 litre water container which we fill and use in the van - as do many Europeans, but most British have at least an aquaroll. If you want drainage, and a hosepipe, then take those with you and on some sites you'll find the facilities to use them, on many you won't.

I've caravanned in France for the last 15 years and have decided its time to seek out less exhaustive measures of camp routine.
I was considering buying a substantial length of waste pipe.
I've never been able to confirm if grey water can be discharged into the service pitch drain or if that's just for "run off" from the fresh water tap.
The site I'm looking at for next year is Camping Koningshof.

As to kit, as Val said. In our camper days, we had assorted lengths (and connectors) of flexible grey waste water hose. I'd be surprised if "sewage hook-up" literally meant loo waste. I'd expect that to mean waste water (sink, shower etc) but might be wrong. I frequently am.

Ta mikegalagher. SP=Super Pitch, it gets better, I can remember when VD had one meaning and didn't abreviate to video.
