Does anyone know good sites in either Northern Spain or South West (Atlantic) france?
We want to use the Santander/Bilbao ferry and not drive for moer than 4 hours off the ferry next year.
We will be tenting and would like, site that no commercial companies (e.g. Eurocamp) use, pool, slides, ping pong, small bar, football area. Beach suitable for body boarding.
I have 2 teenage sons who love meeting other teenagers. Husband and I want peace, beach, pool, slides and small bar.
Thanks

To piggy back OP question, anyone with younger families been to the area west of Santander and that coast in general?
Any recommendations there, as certainly an area I would like to see but want to see what the attraction would be for there to say west coast of France which would be far cheaper for us to get to and we already know something about
Also likely summer weather in that area in say August? Hot and dry, hot and likely wetter (I know its a just a example and weather can change everywhere)
Thanks

Yup ... several times with kids from 6 years old and onwards till 17.
Las Hortensias was popular because of the great beach and tidal pools ... The Picos, too ... cable cars and mountains, and rocky rivers to explore, great drives, and kayaking the Sella.
I'm biased of course ... it's a top pick for us year after year.
Weather in July and August ... we've seen very little rain at that time ... mostly sun ... from morn till night ...
Do you know if the campsite pitches work the same as in France i.e. you book a pitch and pay for each person but they don't mind how many tents you have. Our sons sleep in pup tents and we sleep in a 4 men tent. French sites don't seem to mind, hoping Spain is the same
We camped at three sites in Northern Spain this year- I caravan amd awning plus two small tents for our teenage sons. There was no extra charge for the tents, just surprise that we managed to fit it all I'm on the small Spanish pitches!

We like camping colombres in northern spain...planned to stay a couple of nights but ended up stayed 9 in the end. Views of the pecos and hearing the cow bells ringing was so relaxing. The pool was nice if a tad cold, and the music in the loos too!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
