For our first campervan abroad trip this year we are going to be travelling along the Rhine towards the Black Forest. (In high season, with our four year old son).

Has anyone followed a similar route and if so would you recommend booking campsites in advance or just turning up? Given that we will be there in July and August?

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

We were at Rudesheim and a site near Freiburg last September and both sites were nearly full. Looking at your dates (peak period) and with a small child it may be best to book but don't leave it much longer.
