I was just putting the finishing touches to our route planning down to Camping Le Brasilia, and have a quick query, if anyone can help!
The best route in seems to be down the A9, past Perpignan airport, towards Le Castillet; turn left there, down onto the D617, then D81 in towards the site.
However, Google wants to take me off the A9 onto the D83 (before Perpignan) towards Saint-Hippolyte, then along the D81. This seems a slightly longer way round, but if access is easier I'd go that way!
Has anyone been there and have any views?
Thanks awfully!

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Haven't been to that site but have driven in and around Perpignan. You don't want to do that with a caravan, do you.?
So a quick look at the map says avoid the city by leaving the motorway at junction 41 on to D83 . Then the Brasilia website, if you download documents, gives you a diagram of the final approach .
Pleased to say I can help you here as we've stayed on Brasilia a couple of times.
Confirm that by far the easiest is as Google says, leaving the A9 near Rivesaltes, along the D83 to near Le Bacares then right onto D81 past Torreilles Plage and Sainte-Marie Plage to Canet.
If solo, approaching Canet turn right onto small road just after crossing the river and go under low bridge under the D81 and just head towards the sea or if you are towing stay on the D81 for a further half a mile where it ends on a roundabout, go right round and back on the D81 going in the direction you've just come from for nearly half a mile and branch off on the slip road just before you cross the river. Dead easy, dual carriageway all the way from Rivesaltes to Canet.
The way past the airport may be slightly shorter but goes through the suburbs of Perpignan and is slow going till you leave the city. Good luck.

We liked it, plenty of shade, well demarcated pitches. Opens out directly onto long, sandy beach. Good pool area. Nothing wrong with on site shopping and restaurant though as always not particularly cheap, good fruit and veg stall by side of road on way onto Canet. Medium sized Casino supermarket 5 mins away in Canet, huge Carrefour about 15 minutes away towards Perpignan.
We like the area, Collioure well worth visiting. Bit further, easy to drive to Figueras in Spain to visit the Salvador Dali museum. On the motorway its about half an hour from the border.
Edited to add its about 745 miles from Calais via Rouen, Chartres, Orleans, Clermont Ferrand, Millau and Beziers.
hi. we were at this site a few years ago,has the cleanest toilet block ever come across and good size pitches.can be a bit windy in this area at times.

Glyn, living in Lancashire we crossed Hull to Zeebrugge and stopped one night both ways at a Chambre d'Hote we've used many times about an hour North of Clermont Ferrand. It was just the two of us and we stayed for a couple of weeks in a Mobile Home from Venue Holidays, and (in June out of season) very good value it was too.
As Steve says it can be a bit windy around there for a few days in a row but in our experience usually you then get a period of calm and very warm weather. This can apply anywhere along that coast from Argeles up to the Montpellier region and beyond.
Hi Boxman
Could you tell me how long it took you to get to your stopover from Zeebrugge. We are travelling next week down to Portiragnes-Plage and have got a campsite stopover booked at Ebreuil for 2 nights before carrying on. Co-pilot is saying approx 7 hrs not including breaks.
Certainly hodgsons, excluding any breaks it took us 6 1/2 hours to drive (solo car not towing) to the overnight stop not far from St Amand, j8 on the A71 a bit south of Bourges. This was about 390 miles by way of Lille, skirting SE Paris, Etampes and Orleans. The next day it took us just under 5 1/2 hours to do the 365 or so miles down to Canet Plage.
I see from the map that Ebreuil is a little bit further on from where we stopped, perhaps about an hours drive. Portiragnes is a few less miles than Canet so I would estimate it would take us (solo remember) about 3 3/4 hours from there to your destination. We usually average about 70 mph on the Autoroutes.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
