We are thinking about Ile d'Oleron for our holiday this year. Will be in France from 21st August for 2 weeks and have been reading the thread about the weather with fingers crossed. We are a bit unsure about sites despite lots of time on the Internet . We like smallish sites and near a beach would be a bonus though I'm guessing you're never far from one on this island lol!

A large sunny pitch and being able to walk to a town or village would be perfect. We've no children with us so no need for pool complexes or entertainment.

A couple which look promising are Les Seulieres and Les Lauriers. Has anyone stayed at either of these? Any other recommendations welcome.

Is les lauriers the one in St Denis? If so, that's a lovely town to wander round with an excellent market, interesting harbour and nice sandy beach.

I think I tried to book it but it wasn't available. We've just come back from Le Suroit, on the west coach, which despite initial unfavourable impressions really grew on me! It's smallish and family run but the you are quite 'cheek by jowl' with the other campers. Not in walking distance to a town either, though a quick cycle ride would get you to one very shortly. Will do a review but would recommend it, we had a lovely time, not happy to be home 😢

I'm staying at camping signol. It's a lovely site very close to a harbour and gorgeous beach. But has pools. But from 21st they take camping cheques and that will make it cheaper

If you do decide to try this one. Come say hello. I'm on pitch 261.

Good luck

Lou
