Thanks for posting this, I thought it was us. Weekend before last experienced the "up the hill and down again" and both convinced we followed the "correct" signs. Nice to know we're not losing it but have to say that it could be more clear when leaving the port. We live in France but obviously have experience of UK roads and signage so, as others have said, it must be very confusing for foreign visitors.

Hello again. Am the original poster of this query. Thanks for your experiences and glad , sort of, to see that we are not alone. Have written to the Port Authority, Kent CC, Highways Agency & Dover MP, also Caravan Club for their comments. Hope it gets some results.
