Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We leave our caravan in France, and always choose the shortest ferry crossing at the cheapest price, and then drive down with a hotel stop en-route. If you fly down then you need a car and caravan, or to have your caravan towed to a site. We want to continue touring so need our own car.
However, if you're on a site in Spain, with everything you need on site or within walking distance, then I imagine you could get it towed to site, and then just fly down which would almost inevitably be cheaper. If you aren't intending to continue touring around Spain then flying will be the best option.
We can fly to France for as little as £9.99 each way - we couldn't even get half way to Dover for that amount of money. Whilst fuel is subsidised for airlines there's no doubt that flying is almost always going to be cheaper, except for families and in peak season.
I can't help you with Spain but I know of several campsites in France with getting on for a hundred British caravans in storage, mat each of them. The total must be thousands of British caravans stored in France alone.
If your caravan is on a site at Alicante the most cost effective way of getting here is to fly, but then you have to decide whether you need to hire a car while you are there on holiday. But I doubt if you will find a hire car with a towbar to allow you to tour.
Edit, Sorry, this duplicates much of what Val has said while I was pecking at an I pad.
Within your price range, but a bit further south, perhaps, where we store our caravan there is space. It's nearer to Chateauroux, in a closed barn with the owner living on site. He has just opened up another barn for storage. If you email me at valdaathome at gmail.com (second at is the symbol) then I can give you details.
It's just too far to be 'doable' within a day from Yorkshire though, and we are toying with the idea of moving it a little bit further north.
If you can 'manage' in French, then you can search the Le Bon Coin website for 'Hivernage de caravanes' in the areas you want to look. I've just had a look and there's a place which may interest us for 190 euros a year literally just off the A28, between Neufchatel en Bray and Rouen - which is within a day's travel for us from Yorkshire.
We have stored in two different locations. As we always holidayed in the south we used to store it down near St Chinian. That worked well until we got tired of budget hotel chains for our overnight stops. We started to spend more, and then realised that we could move the caravan a bit further north and save the cost of one stopover. However, it's still a bit far for us and we always have to have a last night in a hotel. We have found some great ones, don't get me wrong, but the costs do mount up and if the caravan were nearer we could find campsites instead, which are considerably cheaper all round!
