Hi there

Could anyone recommend a campsite in the South of France - looking at the Lauguedoc - Roussillon region (in particular Aude or Pyrennes Orientales areas) Really had my heart set on La Brasilia but it would seem I've left it far too late to book for July 17

Looking for a site with pool/slide/bar/restaurant and close to the beach (but not essential)

I've used various sites/searches but I seem to be going round in circles!

Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Many thanks all!

There are a few sites at Serignan Plage which is in the Herault region just over the 'border' from the Aude. There is Serignan Plage itself, Aloha Plage, Beausejour and other smaller sites. They are very near to the beach - and used to have beachside pitches, but I have a feeling these have been enclosed by fences now due to storms, high seas, and some unauthorised visitors.

At Vendres Plage just a bit further south there are a lot of sites which seem to be very French, but again run down to the beach. This is just one of them. We haven't stayed at any, but there is a whole row of sites along the same road which we drive past regularly.

Les Sablons at Portiragnes Plage gets good recommendations on here, as does Le Soleil at Argeles sur Mer

I'm sure others will be along with suggestions, but my personal feeling is that for a prime beachside site you may have left it a little late for booking for this year. We stay in that area quite a lot and have friends there, but we use Camping Neptune which is a more low key site compared to La Brasilia.

Hi Stewie

I know how you feel...I can't see straight anymore. Had day off today so determined to finally decide and book. I used the C&CC and surprisingly they are better value than going direct!

Good luck and the end is nearly in sight!

Do you mean Le Brasilia at Canet Plage? If so, there are others in the same area. A couple years ago we stayed at Le Bosquet, which is situated beside and behind Le Brasilia. It has a gate opening on to the beach path. It is, I think, a much smaller site, but has a pool (I don't think there are slides) and a small bar/cafe. If you are determined on that area it might be worth looking at.

Have stayed at Le Haras for the last few years and it may be what you are looking for. It has a pool, bar and restaurant but no slide. It is 10 min to the beach by car or longer by bike.
You can also book it through the C&CC.
It is also reviewed on ukcampsite.

Hi all thank you all for your replies!
Stuart- thanks so much for your link - it's really useful.
Gail I will also have a look at the CCC site.
I think I'm really after a large site in or near that area (not what we usually go for but to please the kids!) - even if it's not on the beach. Has anyone been to any of the other yelloh village sites? I think I need to be more organised next year!!

Hi we have been to Argeles sur mer which is further down the coast than where your looking but it's a fairly big site with lots to do. My children love it, the campsite is right on the beach so no need for car or bike. The pools are big enough with slides to entertain the children. There's an ice cream bar/playground/a climbing wall and bar with entertainment, the site is camping le soleil

Argeles is the busiest area in France for campsites so you should be ok there. But this area is not the Aude.   Brasilia is expensive and again not the Aude. Portiragnes is fine as is Vendres.   If you go to the Aude area we may see each other - depending on your timing. It is a good area to go to but can be busy. Just keep off my quiet bit of the beach and you will be fine. Just pick one, write to them and off you go. Dead easy.

I can see that in my earlier post, above, I should have linked to a 'French' site, at Vendres, in the Aude, but didn't. Here's the link again: http://www.camping-plage-mediterranee.com/

There are lots more sites along that section of beach - check on Google maps for the others.

We went to Les Sablons last year and are returning this year - an absolute first for us to return to a French site but it is that good!

Ive always been put off by Brasilia as they demand Sat-Sat bookings in August and we just can't make that work for us with the travelling.

Serignan Plage is supposed to be really good and on my list to visit.

Also, not quite in your area but La Rive in Biscarosse was a really nice site too.

Hi all
Just an update - by some miracle we have managed to get a cancellation at sablon! Our other choice was yole but I was bit put off by the size (but does look fantastic for the kids!)
thank you for all your posts- I can't believe how helpful everyone is on this site 😊
Our crossing is Portsmouth to Caen- can anyone recommend a stop off point about half way- we were looking maybe around saintes on the way down and maybe tours on the way back up.
Thanks in advance!!
