Does anyone have any experience of the car train. We are given serious thought to using this to travel Paris - Toulouse we would then travel on a passenger train collecting the car at Toulouse stopping over before heading to Midi Pyrennes roughly a 3 hr drive to Camping Pyrennes Natura at Estaing. It's €119 each way for car train. We are ok with the cost and it's a quicker way to get where we need to go. Our concern is driving into Paris to the station.
Hoping you lovely people can shed some of your experiences to put hubs mind at ease with driving into the city. Will have a satnav x

No personal experience, but thought I would have a look as we regularly travel down via (or near to) Toulouse. However, a single far for just the car alone, in March, is 156 euros, then there would be two single passengers tickets at 100 odd euros each (single) and an overnight hotel, so not quite the bargain it might first seem.
If it is like the paris -nice car train, the costs can add up - price does not include car occupents who travel on separate passenger train at additional cost. Also che k time as the train may arrive following day.

cost - big time the drive down is a fairly easy one especally if you drive too far in a day take two or three or even four if you can looked at the paris / Avignon run once - but only once discounted it very quickly as a viable optiona

My brother has travelled down to Narbonne this way for the last three years. They drop the car off in Paris late afternoon, overnight in Paris, then get the train the following morning, picking up the car around 3pm then are usually with us at Les Sablons by 4 ish. It is obviously more expensive than driving even adding up fuel & tolls. Your car also has to be of suitable height to go on the train. But he has a demanding job & was finding the dash down to the Med hard work: travelling this way has made things much easier & the y arrive more relaxed but it's not for everyone
Actually, we consider the drive part of our holiday. However, when we were working it was a bit more of a dash. Still possible with a single overnight stop if you are determined!

Can not comment on the present systems they operate but one of the best holidays we ever had was travelling to the South of france using the overnight car trains, in those days you travelled on the same train in a sleeper compartment arriving in the south at 7.00am with breakfast waiting for you at your destination.
