A84 for sure - its shorter and cheaper (toll free) and mostly good roads much of the way

i agree with sunshine....we have used the A84 and E3 to Nantes a couple of times coming back from that area.

Its the most direct, quick, simple, no tolls and loads of places you can choose to stop on route.

Agree with the above. We've used the A84 route several times, mainly because there are no tolls. It's a good direct route.

I'm going to buck the trend and say A88, Alencon and Le Mans. Slightly longer but slightly quicker (according to Google)and easier. On the A84 you will need to negotiate around both Rennes and Nantes. On the A88 you don't go round any cities, even Le Mans is avoided really.

We used to like the route through Le Mans before they hiked the tolls away up. It is now crazily expensive on that stretch so go for the A84
