I only paid £50 return for a family of 4 in July returning August and the sailing times are 8.15am and 2.15pm.

With a car and caravan the best deal around at the moment is Norfolkline (website something similar).  They're offering car/caravan plus two people for £118 return, Dover to Dunkerque, and that's all season!!!  Otherwise, without a caravan the best deal at the moment is Speedferries, where you can cross for as little as £35 return!!!!  Our friends have just booked for August!

In recent months I've trawled all over looking for decent deals. The best prices for an MPV and 5 persons at the 'mo are P&O Portsmouth-LeHavre for £70 return, or Transmanche Ferries Newhaven-Dieppe for £60. I booked Dover-Calais in August £121.50 return car, caravan & 5 people. If I'd booked through the Caravan Club, I'd have got another tenner off!

Isn't there a new ferry company started up a couple of years ago that run it a bit like EasyJet did?

I'm not anywhere near there details at the mo, but if someone else doesn't reply, I'll try and dig out the website address.

The company was covered by a TV program late last year, showing how they had set it up, and the tricks that the big operators did to try and stop them.

Cheapest ferry company for Dover Bologne has to be SPEEDFERRIES.COM - £88 return for car and tarailer in August.  Brilliant price!!!

They were charging ober £100 for July - August dates for our car.

Speedferries.com - very cheap! £ 38 return for car in July/Aug - means we're off to France this year instad of Bala (no offence Bala - we'll be back!)

Just checked out Speed ferries and  for one month return it was priced at £88 for july/August - not bad I think - I just wish they took caravans

I've just booked this weekend for car, folder and 3 people for £118 with Norfolkline - thats for August this year!! 

The price includes up to 9 people I think.....though how you could possibly fit nine people in I don't know! LOL!
