Hi we'd like to camp in France with our own facilities on pitch next summer. Any ideas?

La nautique, Narbonne. Every pitch has its own toilet and shower.

As above Haliotis. We have stayed a few times. Lovely little cabins with shower, sink and toilet. Also heated towel rail. Supermarket just across the road.

There are loads of sites with private shower/washbasin/toilets. I'll find my list and post it - and add any more than I can think of.

Or you can use the Eurocampings website to search for others here's the result of a quick search throughout France: ACSI Main Website (Eurocampings)

Hi thanks for all the suggestions. I'm not sure which area of France we would like to visit- may even base it around the right site! We've been to the Vendee, Brittany, Royan, the Dordogne. I think we'd prefer to be a bit further south than the Loire for the sunshine.

What sort of site would you like? Small, medium, large, bar/restaurant/pool etc. It reather sounds as if the site is more important than the area - we generally choose an area and then find a site. However, someone may come up with a great site in an area you haven't visited.

What area(s) are you thinking of - and how far south are you willing to travel. When are you going? If out of peak season then you could benefit from using an ACSI Card (see the ACSI Card discounts available through the link I originally posted by hitting the CC button against site details).

The Lot is lovely - similar to the Dordogne but less crowded, and we very much like the Ardeche area and the area around the Gorges du Tarn/Jonte/Dourbie - the last two for dramatic scenery, mediaeval villages, and lovely rivers but of course your preferences may be very different to ours.

Hi Val A We are going in July/August. This year we stayed near Sarlat, and would love to explore the Lot area. I don't think we would go further than the Dordogne, unless we did the Bilbao ferry. However, I find it difficult to find good sites in the very south west of France. Ideas?
We loved La Garangeoire and have been twice- boys play football etc but not sure I want go back a third time. So I guess we like medium/large sites which are well maintained with lots of entertainment but quiet at night....

Took this photo a few years ago now at Haliotis site. That's our tent and we were fortunate to get one of the pitches with the private facility which is in the background. The block is four facilities with 4 pitches around them. Toilet shower washbasin and mirror and storage facility for toiletries and even heated towel rail. Really are lovely facilities. Dish washing also on the outside of each block. Best facilities we have come across. Stayed at a site at Narbonne which also had private facilities but nowhere near as nice as Haliotis.

Camping L'Oree du Bois near Les Mathes/La Palmyre in Charente Maritime has them too (although I'v not stayed there, I have googled - check out reviews on here).

I quite fancy the idea of my own little sanitaire, a little like a posh toilet tent but, on the other hand, it feels a bit like owning a dog and barking yourself... why go camping rather than an hotel... Which comes first the accommodation or the facilities....

I think (from someone's recent post) there's site near Lanas (Ardeche between Ruoms and Aubenas) that has private facilities... forget it's name tho.

Apologies for duplicate post... sticky finger.

Don't know about Lanas, but there is Les Coudoulets, which is at Pradons just a bit further down river We love the Ardeche and are currently in the area and have been back many times. Great scenery, lovely villages, markets and plenty of lakes and rivers for wild-swimming. We're now storing our caravan in the area.

Here's a link -
Les Coudoulets - emplacements including private toilt facilities.
