We are hoping to take our own tent to France in 2017 to the Camping Indigo Noirmoutier site. We intend to go at the end of June/beginning of July to avoid the French school holidays. I have a couple of questions that someone who has already been there may be able to help me with.
1. Are mosquitoes a problem on this site?
2. Do you have to take special adapters for the electric hook up? I have read something about reverse polarity on some sites, which I am a little confused about.
3. We would like to reserve a beach side pitch but with some shade, can anyone recommend a good pitch number for this.
Thank you
Lisa
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I don't know about mosquitoes, but I have seen this campsite jam-packed, with tents almost on top of each other. I don't know what it would be like in early July, but it was horribly busy in high summer. I'm trying to remember what it was like in May 1/2 term, but I can't picture it...so that's probably a good sign!
My husband says he just swaps the live and neutral over in the lead if his mains tester shows reverse polarity. We stayed here beginning of July a few years back, we were squashed in a very small shabby plot , it's was really busy. It's a very basic site but we had a lovely time, collect shell fish straight of the beach and a flat cycle path into town. I can't remember any Mosquitos there. I would image if you want beach side you should hook now.

I've never actually been into Fromentine, but it looks beautiful, every time we go over the bridge we resolve to visit next time.
Unlike Ile de Re, the Noirmoutier bridge is free, as is the causeway at low tide. So maybe Fromentine or a quieter part of Noirmoutier would be an option?
Yes, we are now considering a less formal regime. It is hard, online, to find those in France and near to a beach. In UK we prefer sites that just consist of a field (without premarked pitches)and clean showers and toilets. We don't really need much else as long as you can charcoal BBQ, which incidentally you can't on a lot of French sites.
