Thought I would be clever once, and leave Manchester at midnight on a Saturday to get down to Dover, for our Sunday pm crossing.

Only to find the that they had completely closed the M1 near Milton Keynes for General maintanence work grrrrr.

Note to self, never do that again!

As Andyd's post above - that's the way I'd go (ideally using the Dartford Crossing overnight to avoid the Dart Charge - they don't call it a toll any more!).

We usually go M42,M40,M25 then M20.We stay at Blackhorse Farm CC site.
I have prepaid a return Dartford Crossing,easy on UK gov site

They seem to be closing the M20 after 10pm at night at the moment, annoying trying to get home from work.
